Plot post for (late) July 11th

It's been quiet, hasn't it? That's about to change.

Everyone who signed up here will be getting a super-special PM from us soon- PLEASE CHECK YOUR MESSAGES ON THE ACCOUNT YOU REPLIED WITH.

PMs status: All sent. If you signed up and did not receive a PM, please check first doubly, then contact us.

Basically, the next week or two is not going to be directly outlined this time, given there's about fifteen different things that chosen characters will experience or run into over the next while; how things are handled from here depends on how the characters react.

Some of you may have special instructions about plotting, but for those of you who are free to share, you're welcome to discuss here. As a side note, we won't be ruthlessly hunting down anyone who accidentally spills the beans on something or whatever, but the "please" does stay in place.

General plotting is encouraged as well, and as always, please direct questions for the mods to the specified thread below and not the post in general.

Meanwhile, bear in mind that from the time this month's strange experiences start onwards, the Locke City police department will be on the active lookout for suspicious public behavior! (Feel free to have characters in law enforcement pick up on this fact, by the way!)

Hey, anyone want to get into a car crash?

No, wait, let me back up.

Those Vermini are still around, if I understand correctly, and therefore quite feasible for getting an Echo from. So I'd like to send Fred out to get one - anyone up for a shared action log? Ideally someone who was in the loop when they were a thing the first time, so Fred can find out the details.

Anyway. Unless something insanely tempting occurs to me beforehand, Fred's next Echo - whether from Vermini or something else - will be an Echo of Echo. Echo (the last one in the previous sentence) is a Djinni (helpful creatures a bit like wizardly familiars and a bit like summon spells) in his canon. Naturally, Echo won't be useful right away - he'll show up as an ordinary cat - but after enough Echoes he and his comrades will unlock quite a bit of power.

Now, as those of you who watch me on plurk may have inferred, I got a job recently, where I'm putting car-crash reports into a database. In a bit of bleedover, I'm wanting to RP a crash. Just a minor one, I promise. And it occurs to me that a delayed-onset creature Echo would be a good way to cause a crash.

So. Anyone up for getting run into, probably in a parking lot or a residential street or something like that? Or, as I asked above, for hunting some Vermini, either accidentally or deliberately, with Fred?

Ha ha oh man, I would like to offer up Ravi for the accident because I am a terrible person.

He is very attached to his expensive Corvette, you see.

Ahaha, excellent! Terrible people are the best people.

Fred'll be feeling much the same way. Not that he'll be in an expensive car, he'll have his dad's car which is probably a 90s-model something-or-other and pretty dinged up anyway. But it's his dad's, and he's going to break a headlight and be all "Dad's going to kill me".

I am totally down w/Bakura there as a witness, too. more potential for CR \o/

Excellent.

My plans, at this point, are fairly nebulous. I'd prefer something like a residential street or parking lot, where he wouldn't have a lot of speed (and therefore danger). My thought, basically, goes: Driving along, OH ACK CAT OUT OF NOWHERE, startled jerk on the wheel, KSSSH. (My thoughts are prone to onomatopoeia and a lack of complete sentences.)

Ideally it would happen in the next week or so, before my Personal Plot Thing (which I'm choosing to be cagey about), though I still need some way to get him the Echo in the first place.

Fred goes to LCU and Ravi works at the LCU teaching hospital, so it is entirely feasible for the collision to happen somewhere in the LCU parking lots! 7-9am is after work for Ravi and 5-7pm is before work, could we make that work with Fred's class schedule?

As for how to get Fred the tutorial Djinn as an echo, sounds like it might be easier to get it out of a Vermini encounter than trying to create a canon parallel. Or maybe one of the talking animal players might be willing to help? If he ran into one of them out of nowhere and they basically forced their way 'into his party' that might mimic the "take me with you! no? I'm coming anyway!" that you get from Echo when you run into it outside the first town.

(hello i have actually played golden sun within the past couple years how are you)

Mmm, maybe. He's not taking summer classes, but I could probably contrive a reason to show up on campus for something else. I imagine, college students having the reputation they do, an evening thing would be more likely, but I could probably come up with something for either side.

Yeah, the Vermini were my thought, which is why they're the first significant paragraph in my proposal thingy. Nobody seems to have taken me up on that part of it here, though, so I'm trying to set something up under someone else's comment. The animals hadn't occurred to me, although the thought of someone promising not to eat all his chips had.

Oh man, I'm kinda tempted but I'm worried it might give Bakura a bit of a psychotic break since his parents died in a crash, and his mom and sister died in one in his previous life....

Edit: So, on more thought: Yeah, I'm a horrible person and would like to get Bakura involved. Even if it's just being a near miss of seeing it happen 2 feet away from him. :)

Is this likely to be a moment of legitimate trauma, or something more like the freaking out Ravi and Fred are going to have, discussed above? Because while I'm not going to say "no don't be there", the former is not something I really enjoy.

...And then I get a Plotty Stuff PM that guarantees the death of someone close to Fred. Fun fun.

Legit trauma. This kid already has PTSD related to a car accident [the one that turned his hair white] that even just observing the wreck would likely trigger [and also trigger an echo of his previous self losing family to a car wreck since I'm a horrible person.] He can be enough off to the side that he can be overlooked, especially since he's most likely going to just wander off before he falls apart or at the very least be putting on a fake face before the shock wears off so your guy can understandably be far too wrapped up in his own freaking out to even notice if you wanna dodge that part.

Considering Miranda's new car is what got her into this whole mess (thanks to one quirky NPC dealership staff member), I am completely fine with it being wrecked/dented if you're up for it.

THOU ART THEE ART THOU WRECK PANDORA'S BIKE DO IT. Minor scrapes and bumps (or, hell, worse) are OK with me.

Honestly, Ravi's proposal is looking more attractive at the moment. (Also, if we break Pandora's bike, doesn't that impact her ability to do her job?) I might be persuaded otherwise, though...
