no really though elian has been doing a bit of research in to his own physical echo (a little small metal-crystal thing) and it's made of a material he's never seen on earth and is pretty sure is not *found* on earth ever at all never. So he'd be familiar with things insomuch of 'yeah this is. not native.' and then promptly want to scan it with an electron microscope and note everything down and basically have an old man fanboy moment of 'PARTICLES, MAN, PARTICLES!!!!11one'
