Towards the end of the battle, John's going to get injured enough by something to kill him. For regeneration to kick in it can't be really instant, but it could definitely be quick enough for anyone who might have the ability to heal him to not manage to do that. And then he's going to regenerate into the Third Doctor.
I should still make a complete own plotting post for this to alert everyone of account change and. Things. BUT since I am here. It's... going to really disorient him, and whether or not he ends up fainting (I haven't decided yet) he's going to need some help to at least get out of harm's way. Any volunteers?
