I expect pre-fissure (and during and after) there'd be other characters trapped, temporarily or otherwise. Rubble, and anyone who looks up and sees a carapace overhead, where do you go? Especially in the aftermath, when people need to be found quickly.

...I'm wondering if I should have Julien buried under rubble. Idk!
