Quick Announcement for December 21st!

During the period from the evening of December 21st to the end of December 25th, reincarnates may find themselves experiencing one odd and isolates unprompted Echo each.

What is odd about them? Well, apart from the very fact that they are, as far as can be seen, unprompted is that they're all a specific kind. These free Echoes may only be Tier 1 Item Echoes, and the item must be something with no relevance or use outside the context of the character's original life - for example, a sword or a letter from someone who their past self knew that could trigger further Echoes on reading would not be in the cards; "the jacket that he wore in the twentieth episode" or "the book she was reading at the beginning of the series" would.

Any and all reincarnates who would be in Locke and not have lost memories or Echoes for at least one day during this period may get an Echo as described.

...And who's to say if this is the universe wishing you all a Happy Holidays, Numbers Club? It is the solstice, after all. Perhaps there's just something in the air.

Just a quick, curious question - should this item be one that won't give others from the character's canon an echo?

Preferably, yes - if it might, however, it would best be expected to be something similarly small and trivial.

Okay just so I'm getting this correctly. One of Sakura's costumes could be okay? But one of the Sakura Cards is not, because with her wand she could use it in Locke, correct?

I can see arguments for both ways with this so I'm just going to ask: the fake FBI badge Dean makes for Castiel at some point so he can work cases with him. The badge itself wouldn't really cause an Echo, but actually using it (to impersonate an agent...what else) would. Too significant?

That ought to be fair enough to pass! In theory just about any item could be used to trigger an Echo for someone; if it's got no significant meaning itself then it should do nicely.

Would echoing back tattoos be okay for this, or no?

Regrettably no - a tattoo itself for the purposes of an Echo qualifies as a physical change.

KIND OF A REALLY SPECIFIC QUESTION

This is a character who didn't actually own anything in his preincarnation--I have no items that I could possibly echo back. I'd really like to participate, so is there an alternate way I can still receive a Christmas echo, or is this very strictly items only?

Something ought to absolutely be negotiable! A preferable alternative might be an item that the original Wheatley may have interacted with that no one other appable character could claim ownership of - if not any other sort of Echo with a minor non-mental effect ought to pass in a case like his.

Hitting this up because I am utterly stumped. Both Emiley and I have headcanon'd that our kids wouldn't have had a lot of material possessions. The only thing that I could come up with would have been Signless' cloak. Not the righteous leggins, but just the cloak. Only thing is... I have no idea if that would cause an echo for someone else or not.

Other items that they may have interacted with or assumed to have interacted with but that could not be claimed as the former possessions of any other appable characters would do excellently well - failing that, in Kavi's case, we'll interpret the cloak as an innocuous thing enough on its own that only the reincarnations of his followers (Maggie and Davin of course) would be likely to Echo off it, and would be fine to do so as an exception!
