PLOT POST FOR APRIL 8TH

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another, although posting to the OOC comm for the same purpose is not discouraged in any way.

Events occurring currently;

• Jack Sears/Raiden, twopercent, was captured by General Miller, generalpublic, after confronting him at Fort Turner. In his line of questioning, Jack revealed a few things to the General; specifically he now knows that there is potential resistance to the plan and that they have some form of network. In turn, the General revealed that he and the others in on the invasion believe humanity doesn't stand a chance against whatever is coming and is paving the way for them in the hopes mankind will at least survive. It was also discovered that whatever is coming is not from Earth, but it isn't from space either.

Good news: Jack was rescued by Captain Mass/Full Frontal, secondcomingof, rescued him. Bad news: Jack is being publically framed for the murder of Paul Ben, thewalkingdork and his family. It will be all over the news that the mentally unstable ex-soldier is the prime suspect in the brutal murder of eight.

• Although not actually posted out yet, the Vermini population of Locke will be exterminated by a group of reincarnated humans. This means that there are no more weird animals appearing anywhere. It's going to leave behind a corpse though. What's going to happen with that?

• Professor Lyall, professorwolf, made a visit to the police in order to try and get some leads on Paul Ben's death. Nothing directly useful arose, but it did reveal something strange. A stone statue of a snake, carved from a pink stone. Depicting a snake atop a heart in a style similar to a totem pole. Being near the statue causes a strange feeling in any reincarnated character, similar to an Echo but diluted. Instead of one powerful heartbeat, the heart rate rises so long as they're in a twenty foot radius and rather than a direct change to the character it will feel like a subtle force trying to persuade the nearby character that Simon Edward's judgement is good and to trust him. Someone who has experienced a genuine Echo will be able to feel it and being aware of the sensation easily resist its persuasion. What it's doing to ordinary humans? Who knows. What relation does it have to the previously mentioned snake that the invaders are looking for? Who knows.

Also it was discovered that some police officers smell a bit like various animals. How odd.

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• Things are going to be relatively quiet for a little while. Nothing so explicitly otherworldly as the Vermini are going to come up this week.

But there is still going to be fallout from them. Those little guys are such a pain in the butt. Detective Jason Sherman, inclothing, will be investigating anyone who had large numbers of Vermini infested animals around their homes more than once or twice. In other words, I'm looking for volunteers to have him snooping around them. A post will go up for it but a heads up is appreciated too.

• The Thunder Corporation will continue to have difficulty getting permission to build in the Dead District. The President Jimmy Won, covertothecore, will erect a statue in the area though. Of, you guessed it, a large snake in the style of a totem pole, made from pink stone. This one is on top of a heart instead of the other way around. In the media, he will be declaring it to be symbolic of how he feels the city must shed its skin and be reborn. The statue is made by one David Proud, a Native American artist for who cursory investigation will reveal little more than that he is 'reclusive' and has only begun his career in the past year, and previously was a mechanic. Anyone who wants to go and see the statue will feel a similar experience to the one in the police department, although this one tries to subtly convince people that they should not live in the Dead District.

• You tell me! Anything you want to do in reaction to these events, I'm all ears. Attempts to find the invader base, cowboy plans against other known invader associates, infiltration attempts... trying to flee the city, whatever you want to run past me let's go.

Events occurring in the further future:

• I mentioned nothing explicitly otherworldly will turn up this week but next week we're looking at something a little more dangerous than the Vermini. Either by accident or design, I'm looking for at least one character to either encounter either a newly relocated homeless person who can explain that the Dead District is now home to 'werewolves' that are picking off members of the large community there every night, or directly meet one of the creatures themselves.

• Detective Sherman and his underlings are going be the guys you're matching up against most often for a bit, (unless the characters go after the bigger fish early. Jack) and based on what he gets out of his investigations he'll be trying to lure out the 'resistance.'

Potential Echo Opportunities

Touching Jason Sherman (a handshake will do it) gives one. Likewise, touching the snake statue (either of them) will as well. There's the potential for two there, but having people turn up to the police station to stroke the snake will raise suspicion. Canon parallels are the constant option and potential Echoes await in player initiated plots. Come next week, there's the 'werewolves' and depending on how investigation from Sherman goes, maybe more.

Hmm, I'm not sure if this would work since it would assume that Sam's hadn't had much direct contact with the Vermini (because then he'd probably would've gotten an echo, right? but didn't even try out the Network until today)...but what if Sam's apartment has had an infestation of (vermini) rats that his mother called an exterminator on? Would that cause Detective Sherman to poke around?

Are there a lot of dead Vermini lying around? And would it mean anything if they were brushed into garbage bags and dumped in a pile for the garbage trucks and such because gross things lying around on the street is pretty awful? :)

I killed lots and lots of people... but not those ones, I swear, officer! Can I write up/post a news report on this continuing manhunt, largely for my own amusement? They should have plenty to frame him with since he and Casval left just about everything behind in the rush to get the fuck out.

(Boy I sure am excited for the police char apps that I see coming down the pipe =D)

We're not at the end of the thread yet but I imagine Jack is gonna be on the run due to public framing, with Casval likely assisting in said endeavor. ROOOOOOOOOMIES jack did you leave your underwear on the couch again you really need to stop that

Since Casval didn't bother to hide his identity during his dramatic Metal Gear-worthy rescue, is it safe to assume he'll be in a similar boat as Jack re: having people after him? I'm guessing it'd be... pretty unwise for him to show up on base at least since he's all over the cameras, just wanted some clarification.

Would Sherman be bothering Lyall, given his foray into the police station and/or his connection to Paul, or is he pretty much left alone? (I'll be happy to volunteer him for a visit, if so)

Also, he is very interested in the snake statue :| He'll be going to sniff around. Any particular smells associated with it? He'll also be doing what research he can on the sculptor and he's asked his students/former students to research former cultures/histories making use of that motif or motifs of similar make/style. All they have is libraries and internet, though :| Anything any of them might turn up?

Nevermind on the homeless person thing as she seems to be giving me major issues in the AU section >.

Elle's not going to go in deep just yet but as a side thing Big Dick threw some hookers at Casval to damage his rep. Any chance this might end up on the news some time in the future so the heat is really on Casval? Like he's investigated about the sleazy hooker stuff first and that's how they come upon the fact that he helped Jack?

Kenji is planning on doing a bit of reconnaissance around the police station--probably from the roof of a building next door or across the street. Would he be able to see anything interesting/ unusual? People that aren't cops (or obvious arrestees) coming and going frequently, animals that don't belong there, stuff like that?

So if Bakura sets up a nanny cam in one of the buildings near the statue to watch it, will it pick up anything? Or will something happen to it? It's not going to be anything high powered, but just some Walmart quality home surveillance stuff

Kenji/ Kazuma likes to poke around in the Dead district, so he could encounter the homeless person. I'm not sure he could handle a werewolf, right yet. Not by himself, anyway.

A quick encounter is entirely possible and since they're actually chasing people off, survival is easy.

Since the gym is a high traffic area and I'm sure there were Vermini creeping in places around it (at least in the underground parking lot), if he'd be interested investigating around there, he can check in on staff and such! I'd be totally up for that.

if kenji/kazuma wants to take on meeting a werewolf directly, i'd be up for tossing banagher into encountering the homeless person if that's on the table? he has a penchant for running into strangely informed hobos anyway. he's been playing it ridiculously safe (SILENTLY JUDGING EVERYONE JUMPING THE GUN BECAUSE I'M A NORMAL TEENAGER I SWEAR WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME) so i'd like to throw him into a situation where there's a solid push for involvement.

Good chance to get him involved! Alrighty then, if he takes on people who can't pay he can expect to get a three or four homeless people wandering with bites and scratches consistent with really big dogs. They'll all say they got from from werewolves.

I'm a bit lost, but my reaction to that is usually "throw yourself into everything!", so.

Julien could certainly go see the second statue. He might start considering persuading his sister to move, but that wouldn't be easy. Otherwise it's mostly trying to find stuff out - so, walking around, meeting people. There might be someone among his casual contacts who knows that little bit about Proud, at the least.

Waiting on comm approval buuut, this kid will likely wind up poking about any of the high-traffic public areas the cops are looking at. Because really, what's going on, here? He hates being in the dark on things.

I'm game for him running into people while he's doing this. Might be a good way to make himself known to the other reincarnations. In addition to that, I assume Detective Sherman would shoo away some kid poking around an investigation scene?

ECHO REQUEST

During the last hours of her life, a huge massacre occurred on Romsca's ship, leaving her and a mouse as the only survivors. Considering that there were a TON of dead animals in her general area after the Vermini were exterminated, could this perhaps trigger another Echo? She won't be touching the statue because uh what that's really creepy and she'll get picked up by Lyall soon anyhow.

As for the Echo itself, could she have some vision back? Domesticated ferrets don't have great vision, and Romsca is not a domesticated ferret.
