+ one 2m dwarf
Hello, this is the player of Blaine and Siiri, bringing to you a, and here it comes a guy. Though I couldn't quite part with my normal ways, so he's still taller-than-you at 2 metres (at least for the time being. He will shrink.
Say hello to Thorir T. Thorsson, aka Þórir Þráinsson Þórsson, who used to go by Thorin Oakenshield in his former life and was not only a dwarf but also a king. Since he might come with spoilers, I have an spoiler&more opt-out post for him
In this life, he (together with his wife co-)owns one of the largest local businesses in Locke, THORSSON's hardware, with three large hardware stores spread out over the city. He has six children and three grandchildren and extensive family in general and has grown up in Locke and lived there for most of his life. Right now, he's 50 years of age and busy in a lot of areas outside of the store as well. Which brings me to
PRE-CR options
- he has tons of kids between the age of 15 and 29, plus grandchildren of 1 and 4. Maybe your teenage/young adult character goes/went to school/nursery with one of them?
- speaking of family, if you want to be related to him, there are all the options. His family has a lot of Icelandic heritage and relatives, but some in the US as well.
- he's active in local politics: He has been on various school boards as a parent's representative, the store has it's fingers in all kinds of local charities/sponsors stuff, and the family is a staunch supporter of the local handball team (and its club's development).
- he went to school in Locke himself and in his mid-twenties went to college there. He also was a model in his late teens/early twenties, based in London but traveling around Europe and the world.
- lastly, you could be an employee or your business could have ties with his.
Also in case you know Thorin: Thorir is a version of him that has chilled. the eff. out. Which is understandable considering that he has had a pretty nice life so far.

-Shou was actually in high school here for two years between the ages of 13 and 15 in which he became known as totally competitive, mouthy, and disruptive force of nature in the school BUT he also had made a lot of bullies suddenly get rather not bully-ish because he saw them as something fun.
-Shou's uncle is a small claims lawyer that runs a small claims office and Shou is actually there 'working' as a files clerk - basically he moves files, keeps tracks of files and fetches snacks.
-Shou's parents are rich and he is often accompanying them to various charities, especially when his pianist mother decides to have a dueling piano show-off between her and her son
no subject
- I'm actually not quite sure what such an office would do, but I guess we could say that Thorsson's has contracted them for some cases in the past?
- Thorir, much unlike Thorin, actually has neither talent nor much sense for music. He doesn't mind it, but... But yeah, they could totally have met at some charity thing, even if only briefly.
So I guess they would definitely know each other by name and face and possibly with a bit of information attached to the face?
no subject
-small claims would be lawsuits at a civil level that aren't a big amount of cash, divorce settlements, family disagreeing on who got Neville's china, car accident/general accident settlements. They don't really handle huge things but they can lay the groundwork for a bigger lawyer group to do their thing.
-The Chinen family is part of an international financial group and rather a huge deal if you're on a global level. Which means that they would be a family to court if a business wants to break into the market over there on the Asian side of things. As the oldest son- which Shou finds ridiculous since his older sister is much better - he tends to get ropes into talks about that sort of thing. He often finds the lamest excuses to hide ASAP when that talk starts.
no subject
- He could have innocently and briefly dated one of the older girls? Otherwise yes, they would definitely have told their father about him in their retellings of things happening in school.
- And I guess they could have contracted them for minor insurance cases that got settled peacefully or something? I'd guess the business has a lawyer of their own for important stuff, but it's likely that minor things/things that are not in their field of expertise would be done by someone else.
- Thorir's company has no international (or even national) aspirations whatsoever, so that wouldn't be interesting for them, but they would still keep friendly relations because that makes other relations easier (and also just to not close doors).
no subject
- basically yeah. they just make sure that stuff gets filed properly and help explain stuff to clients. some of their work is for people who can't afford a real lawyer fee but need a hand with something legal. shou's whole family has money ties sob.
- Chinen is sort of a name in the Asian market so being friendly might help for the large Asian populace inside of Locke City too.
no subject
- Sounds like they'd contract them, yeah.
- That sounds like a great reason to have contacts, actually. Have Thorir and Shou talked outside of being introduced to each other?
no subject
- Shou tends to try not to talk business because he figures that is something his sister should handle but with her being in school in Japan, he ends up doing so in for the family in America - his uncle does all the lawyer talk anyways. But he might be someone to corner since he can't dodge forever which means I should have him show up in that open post here.
no subject
- Now I need to figure out what Thorir could corner him about then |D Hm. I remember there being large ethnic neighbourhoods he could be thinking about starting a fourth store in one of the asian ones /scratches chin or taking over something idek /ponders
no subject
- the Asian market can be hard for a non-Asian to break into. They get really particular about people so if he wanted to try to merge or move into that neighborhood, it would be possible he needs advice on how to do so. Their whole system of buying and selling is totally different than the rest of America too.
no subject
- Would Shou be the one that he would talk to about that or would he just corner him until someone useful shows up |D

At least Aria could have been in school with one of the kids (the ones nearer 16) and Sierra follows local politics, so that would be a way for either of them to recognize the name at least. SOPHIE HAS NO CLUE, but she likes Killian, though since Killian doesn't know about him that won't help Thorir on her part.
no subject
And there are two boys Jón and Albin who are 15... I think one of them should be in a band and the other more interested in some kind of sports, but I have no actual headcanon on that yet, I want to leave them vague just in case. Does that help?
no subject
Sure! Aria's on the track/cross-country team, so she'd be more likely to know the one more into sports. :|b
no subject
Don't ruin his worksif she asks him to he'll give her scraps and pieces that didn't work out to train with. But yes she's totally welcome to visit Killian at work once he starts working there, Thorir will be fine with that as long as he is asked first and she doesn't distract him too much/breaks things (repeatedly)track/cross country sounds good actually, Jón could be in that because first years can't be on the football team of the school maybe /scratches chin. She could have been over at Thorir's place for a birthday or something at one point, if you'd want her to? And thus encountered thorir as that parent in the background who made sure that the house didn't burn down (idk 15th birthday?).
no subject
That absolutely works for me! :D
OH. ALSO. Aria is also a babysitter, though obviously she'd only be old enough to do that for grandchildren. :|b
no subject
Maybe Inger and her fiance would have asked her to babysit at one point then, and Thorir might have said hi then.
no subject
And yes, Aria would have been thrilled her babysitting gig is how she earns actual pocket money so.

So what's Birgir like? I know we've talked about she and Julien being friends.

Also TWO THINGS.
Firstly, Gerald's family was (up until a few years ago where his parents moved to DC to be closer to his father's new job) a pretty big part of Locke City's local politics as well (his mother moreso than his father since ). Also, he's a year younger than Thorir's oldest daughter... so family friends?
SECONDLY, Gerald's back in town to investigate allegations of corruption in local businesses on behalf of the FBI. Since the police is all about taking the heat off of Thundercorp, they've probably given him a list of all businesses, so is it cool if he shows up to be all "yeah so I'm doing a preliminary investigation into most businesses in the area, you're probs cool but hey it's MY JOB :|".
no subject
and the first totally works. Ragna lives in Iceland now, but if Inger was the daughter that he was friends with, she still lives in the same building as Thorir which is also where the offices of the business are located, so he couldn't really miss the connection even if he missed it as a child.
.....................and yes (not only hot but apparently looking the same at twenty as he does at two hundred, a few grey hairs aside)
no subject
I think it's actually Þorkell that he's closest in age to? Either way, he'd have probably seen him at some point or another!

And the wild car exists!

Honestly he's just. A bookworm. lmao. Outside of kid things and his work he does little else but read and read and read. /flicks him
Buuut he's also easily interested in All The Things so what does Thorir get up to? He could have briefly dabbled in almost anything before moving on.
no subject
he's mostly married to family and work and has little time outside of that, but he likes cooking and he's made it his goal to slowly establish his crafts hobby as a business, so by the time that he hands the store over to one of the kids he'll be able to completely do that.
But just kids also sounds good. Maybe they've done trips together with their families, so the kids would have friends to do stuff with wherever they went?
no subject
wait wrong incarnation.Family trips sound awesome too though. /chininhands
no subject
And also, John (and kid when available) would probably be invited over for dinner sometimes. Because dinnertime is social time at the Thorsson's house.
no subject
Dinner is also always appreciated. c: He'd return the favour if his apartment wasn't tiny.

But if she did sports, she could have known Jón, and if not she could have known Albin who tried everything that his brother didn't do before discovering music for himself? Two years younger than her, but...
