Hello, STE! I am Merav and I’m new to the game, bringing you Hamel from Violinist of Hameln.
In his previous life, he was a hero who fought Mazoku with ~beautiful magical music~ played on his violin. Which looked more like a double bass and had missiles hidden inside but uh. It’s what made it special. Hamel was a great champion of justice who brought peace and hope wherever - okay I’m lying. He was the most jerkass hero ever who would always demand money from the people he saved and then bully them when didn’t have any. And steal their shit. And bully them some more. He was also half Mazoku, which gave a whole bunch of ~issues~ he will no doubt be thrilled to echo back.
In this life he’s Emil Fiedler, a highschool student (10th grade) and a disgruntled part time grocery store worker. LCHS students/teachers might know him as someone who skips class, can’t sit still when he does bother showing up and thinks throwing stuff is hilarious. His best academic achievement is not getting kicked out of school.
Emil is much more happier and approachable than his past self, but still a silly jerk who likes to act contrary on purpose. He’s not a bad kid, in fact he's pretty friendly when you give him a chance and stick around, but that doesn’t mean he won’t mess with you.

Do you want to assume they haven't really met before and build up all their CR onscreen, or would you prefer some pre-existing CR?
Also as for what Russel's been up to in the game so far, he uh. Sort of. Joined a magical girl team???? His superhero name is Cure Love; he made his own costume and everything!

where could they meet other than passing by each other in school? Emil probably knows who he is because football player but there's a year difference... uh Emil works in a grocery store so maybe Russel goes there sometimes?

Both of those would work! That could give us a passing familiarity to start with, just a sort of, 'hey haven't I seen you somewhere before?' that we can build on.
Obviously the next logical step is for one of them to stumble across the other being up to something incredibly ridiculous.

...reading it again, that scene is surprisingly informative, with the heroes of love and justice and Hamel threatening to play music at people. Who knew you can learn so much from being a dumbass.
