Grand Opening OOC Post

Hello, everyone and welcome to Save the Earth!

I'm extremely excited to say that our game will officially be opening on April 1st. I deeply hope you're all classy enough to avoid making fake drop posts on the first day.

The reason for the short delay in opening is simply because I'm spending Sunday with family (as I'm sure some of you will be too) and won't have time to give the opening the attention it deserves. Sorry!

But in the meantime, we can have this post here to get to know one another. Tell us a bit about yourself and your character. Tell us the sorts of direction you want to take them in, any plots you've already half formed, etc.

Some points of business:

• Anyone who was accepted before I began requesting them with application acceptance, please create and link to an info post for your character so I can add it to the taken list.

• A more detailed post regarding the circumstances of the first three plot threads will go up Monday, which will introduce characters to the invasion and the dangers of revealing themselves. One of the three plots is closer to foreshadowing than anything that can be directly be interacted with at the start, but with a game like this you never know.

• You won't have to make AC for the first two months, but I will be requesting you fill out the form when it comes up and then giving me your feedback regarding how easy or hard you found it, both times. The current AC requirements may change in the future based on that input.

• Although applications aren't open yet, I'll be looking for two extra mods soon enough! Duties to be shared will be applications (which will be dealt with in shifts), organisation help (including AC and the taken list), being my American culture expert (what the heck are 'grits' and why would I eat them?) and finally, being privy to and assisting in running plots (so don't consider yourself for the position unless you're okay with spoilers).

As always, questions and comments are welcome.

YES......

I think most colleges make their students take at least one history class as part of the ~core~ requirements? I'm not sure what Kallie'd opt for though, except for probably trying to put it off and/or being pretty disinterested. >_>

That said, yes, there's the proximity at least! If nothing else a HEY YOU'RE THAT GIRL moment whereas Kallie quickly initiates trying to hide her O GOD WHY look.

see i don't really know much about American colleges' requirements of their students in that regard but I am happy to take your word for it if it means more CR. STEEPLES FINGERS

(Arianna is p openly scornful about people who put her classes off tho) (how dare u)

Yeah, usually there's a basic curriculum that's required of all the university's students that includes... oh, math, history, politics, health, a foreign language... basically high school sort of stuff except, you know, college level. B| For example, at the university I went to, I was required to take either an 'early American history' or 'leaving off where the other class stops and up to the 90s' history class. A lot of the time there'll be like a basic class and then at least two options you can choose from to snag the rest of that particular credit required, so... yeah. IF THAT MAKES SENSE?

Maybe LCU makes its students take a world history class and Arianna teaches a few of them on the fringe of her more specialized classes? Kallie wouldn't really ditch (much) the classes she doesn't like, but she'd be pretty hella bored and reeaaally not excited about history, lemme tell ya.

Alternatively maybe she knows someone who lives on the same dorm floor as her or something who is totally terrorized by Prof Serket and is always complaining about it, LMAO.

ah i don't know much about US high school either because they don't quite work like that where I'm from, haha – I sort of have a vague idea of how it works but not a solid grasp, so thank you for the clarification and suggestions! 8) and yeah, Arianna can get pretty sneery at anybody who does not seem ... engaged ... so yeah chances are Kallie would probably know someone who'd had a bad experience with her.

It's true that on the other hand I have only a vague understanding of how schooling works outside the US, so... ffff. I'm happy to offer explanations on American things though to... the best of my understanding. Unfortunately I cannot explain things like... for example, bull riding.

And hey, considering this is a game anyway and no two schools are gonna be alike, it's not like we can't just make stuff up as we go along. 8Db

Also now I'm tempted to say Kallie was in Arianna's class for like a day before quietly switching her schedule to SOMETHING ELSE I'LL DEAL WITH HISTORY LATER. :'D
