mafia attack plotting post

All right, so here's an OOC plotting post for the attack on the mafia! There's no date set for it, because I wanted to make sure it worked for whoever wanted in, but ideally it'll take place in the next week or so.

The meeting will have Albero present, along with a large number of high ranking mafia members. Mods will be NPCing Albero as needed, and may also provide any other NPCing, if people want/need other stuff. I'm assuming the other mafia members can be NPCed by players attacking them, however.

I'll set a couple of threads below for specific plotting - date discussion, those going to the meeting, and those who'd want to do something with the recordings and other information Nick has. And, of course, feel free to start your own threads.

If you want your character to participate but don't want to tag into the network post, just comment here and we can handwave them signing up or whatever! I know it's a busy time of the year for people.

UPDATE on the date of the attack and structure of the attack log here! Unless anyone has conflicts, the attack will take place on the night of Monday, December 8th.

It still feels weird Saretha somehow wound up here.

But she's still of the opinion that any outright attacks upon the mafia isn't going to end well - at least not without exposing Albero first, as she thinks that will be the final nail in their Locke publicity coffin.

Still, even though she'll argue about it she's not going to outright try to fight other Numbered head-to-hand without someone's life hanging on the line (re: the Robynapping) and WOULD at least like to get any incriminating information to the FBI.

I said I would get back to you and now that I see this - would she consider getting this incriminating information not only to the FBI, but also to Freeman and Grace?

She certainly would CONSIDER it, although the current likely outcome of things complicates that a hair. (Smearing the name of a dead man potentially after the fact doesn't favor them much, unless one is able to do it before.)

Oocly, I can say that a PR action to the end of "The truth about Albero" would be powerful even and especially after Albero's death, because now the people that had to paid protection fees would dare to give interview as well etc, so it'd not be a numbered-only article writing/TV reports making that'd happen.

Informing the FBI is what has gotten the FBI on the numbereds' good side and keeps them there, but for an actual change in Locke, they'll have to address the public directly (again, I know, but prior PR IS the reason why the numbered have fairly little issues on a national level, the Locke media were simply influenced heavily by Albero...) - and now (=weeks after Albero's death) would be the time when the public would actually be ready to listen and consider both sides, especially if non-numbered-related people speak up, too. More than before, anyway, and they'll not instantly be pro-numbered, but there's a lot more of an opening now.

Icly, it would also be possible for especially Freeman to contact her from his side, if that'd work better - that would just be hinge on when/if a possible death of Albero would become public knowledge.

Hmm, that could be viable then! I guess a lot of it is not yet having been able to read the atmosphere following all of that, so it was a bit harder to say what one might do in the moment. :) (In the moment someone in their position could probably see that tide turning, but that's obviously not a perspective we have yet OOC XD )

Of course following the conversation with Nick if she does have the information prior even if only by a little bit, she might go ahead and pass it to them then, if only out of desperation.

As soon as the tides turning will become a thing ICLy, there will be OOC information about it, no worries.

Eugen already informed the FBI, but they will definitely appreciate hearing about from more than one person.
