Well, saying 7 was assuming no sharing of bedrooms, and that's actually a lot for a house since most houses are made for families of 3-5 people.

Of course, if you are a master of getting a lot of people into a small space, there's a lot you can toy with, plus basements can add another whole floor and potentially up to 2-3 more bedrooms if someone knows what they are doing in adding rooms. I know from my dad doing it in all our houses that you can make a decent room in a basement in about a month's time, and that includes the indoor wiring and all. He could do all the walls and wiring on his own though, don't know if we have anyone here who could do that and hiring people to add rooms is pretty costly.

Wish I knew the square footage on the place I lived in in SoCal. That was a massive house and they converted nearly every room there into a bedroom and had some 15 people renting it out with no one sharing rooms. I'm betting that was something more like 4000-6000 though with the size of the common area and kitchen and that it had an exercise room as well. One thing I'll say about people in SoCal, they sure know how to cram lots of people into a house because you had to to be able to pay the bills there.
