(no subject)

Hey guys! So, for his last Echo, Neku got back his Player Pin. What does that mean? Three things:

1.) Neku now has privacy breaking mind reading powers. This only works when he's activating the pin. Basically, Neku will be able to read surface thoughts, but only if he wants to do it. This is not something that's constantly on, and for a while it'll probably freak him out too much to use on any regular basis. (i'm debating whether or not to put up a general permissions post on this-- what do you all think? Here's a permission post!)

2.) Neku is now immune to having his thoughts read or influenced by other psychic sources, so long as he is wearing the pin.

3.) Eventually, Neku will figure out how to use the pin to 'imprint' a word or phrase onto other people. Basically, said word or phrase gets shoved into their head as a kind of 'aha!' moment.

It's also for finding Noise, but... those don't exist right now so. This is mostly a 'FYI' post in case anyone else has psychic powers, but any questions? Any plot ideas? COME AT ME BROS.

I don't suppose you could expand a bit on the 'imprinting'? I don't feel like I understand either the purpose or effect thereof.

Also I foresee some interesting interactions with my canonmate once she gets her mind-reading powers back, but I should probably leave those to her mun.

Sure! It's can be a little complicated, sorry I didn't explain it well. XD The purpose in the canon was to sort of allow the people in the Game (aka the people who were dead) to influence the actions of the people outside of it (aka the living). What it does is the person with the Player Pin reads the thoughts of the person they're trying to affect, and 'inserts' a word into their thoughts to lead them in that sort of direction. For example, there's a part in the game where a tech is trying to remember what part he needs, so Neku and his partner shove the word 'fuse' into his head so he goes and gets one. Alternatively, if they shove the word 'ramen' into his head, he stops for lunch. It's basically a really sneaky way of getting people to do things without telling them directly. Hope that makes more sense!

Okay, cool beans.

Adrian is starting to have more vampire-y thoughts in his head, like a hunger for red meat and a sensitivity to the sun, so if Neku "heard" those sorts of things he'd probably be able to guess that they aren't things people would typically say and then associate those heard things to thoughts, rather than spoken word!

I wonder how these two will be together, Adrian's pretty shy / timid with new people. :D
