Plot post for July 30!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently;
• The Vermini swarms have disappeared for the most part, and there's no sign of Vermedi either. Some characters may glimpse hairy figures in dark alleys or in sewers, but the creatures always disappear as soon as they are spotted.

• There are an unusual amount of police patrols out and about in the city. Any suspicious activity will be noticed, though there are no immediate IC consequences.

• We also have two super secret event opportunities that have not been claimed. Two commenters to the thread below will be randomly selected for this plot.

Events occurring in the immediate future;
• Beginning Friday, August 2, there will be something in the water. Drinking any tap water will result in occasional, uncontrollable fits of laughter, along with re-experiencing previous Echoes, especially memory Echoes. One Echo per 8oz glass of water, and the beginning of its effects can be delayed for up to an hour. Within six hours it'll be out of the character's system completely.

• If PCs wish to investigate Thunder Corp this week, comment to the thread below with a general idea of how you plan to get in and what you plan to do once you're there. Details will be forthcoming on a case-by-case basis.

Potential Echo Opportunities:
• Drinking the tainted water will grant one new Echo (and only one, no matter how much water is drunk) in addition to any re-experienced ones. Uncovering any secret information about Thunder Corp will also grant an Echo. Canon parallels are a constant.

Bakura is.... still recovering a bit from a nasty echo that triggered a fugue state and has been keeping more to himself lately and has been pretty low energy for him since then. The water-echoing liikely isn't going to help with that much and he may need to reachout to a few people to stabilize.

Siegfried has been spending most of his time dancing since he got that echo back, as well as being.. well.. a reckless idiot in many respects. Windows are a bigger danger than before! The water laugh will likely be the first laugh anyone's heard from him! And it'll just confuse him that he's doing it... :)

I was actually thinking of throwing together a Marisa post going on about trying to organize all the shit that's going on into one big rambling conspiracy theory. It might be a thing for her to have part of that be asking "And does anyone know what happened to Bakura?"

Just having her notice that he's kinda hiding away and going from there? :) [and heck. He was in an arcade and not playing. And her high scores are unchallenged. SOmething's majorly wrong there!]

Oh he hasn't gone anywhere. He's just... gone from 100% down to like.. 20. He's poked a few people over the network but mostly just kinda been quiet and antisocial. He still went to Lyall's club and was at the game club, but he just didn't.. do much. Not sure when he's going to pull out of it, depends on other stuff. So whenever she does it is fine.

'Kay. Marisa didn't go to either of those, so it's likely she just hasn't seen him since the midnight show and tell party.

Did she go to the con at all? SInce he was there and normal then. This only hit the 20th so it'd be after than he would have seemed to vanish.

No actually, I missed out on a bunch of social stuff. Either way I think we can agree that it was a while since she ran into him or heard from him.

Part of me wants to make a stupid tsuntsuntsun joke, but Marisa ain't into that.

Quite likely! Is Anthony still staying at the Bakura house? Cause if so, he would be one of the few to very clearly see that something's up. Even if Bakura likely would be blowing him off and just.... vanishing.

I've been imagining so - he'll much more likely than not finally be getting himself out of the way next month, if that's soon enough. XD Annnd ahh, my, I was wondering if that'd be so in that case. I s'pose Bakura would've refrained the whole time from alluding to what exactly the matter is.

Yeah, Bakura's.. not the sharing type when it comes to these things. Noncommittal responses and lots of "not now, Anthony," brushing off. Bakura's grandmother may ask him a few times if he knows what's up with Bakura as well (since she won't want to pry directly,) and he can find out from her that Bakura just...does this every now and then. Normally after something's upset him and he doesn't want to admit it.

ACTUALLY, since I see you here - Aria and Bakura are the same age and in the same school, and Aria's actually history pals with Anthony (they both like it) so do you mind them being at least tangentially aware of one another to some degree?

Sure! History is one of the few classes Bakura actually pays attention to and likes (since it's what his dad taught) so he'd actually be a decent student with decent grades in that class. Want to say they were in the same one? Anything about her that would have stuck out as the one thing he would have remembered and labeled her by? [something like "that chick who sits in the front and is always chewing on her pencils" or whatever actually applies :)]

Yes, that'd be great! And she used to balance pencils on her fingers and doodle designs on the back covers of her notebooks. Just lots of lines and circles and curves filled in with pens. She also paid attention during this, she just likes to move around/have her hands busy as she works. She often answers/answered questions asked by the teacher in class, and would ask questions on anything she was unclear on.
