Grand Opening OOC Post

Hello, everyone and welcome to Save the Earth!

I'm extremely excited to say that our game will officially be opening on April 1st. I deeply hope you're all classy enough to avoid making fake drop posts on the first day.

The reason for the short delay in opening is simply because I'm spending Sunday with family (as I'm sure some of you will be too) and won't have time to give the opening the attention it deserves. Sorry!

But in the meantime, we can have this post here to get to know one another. Tell us a bit about yourself and your character. Tell us the sorts of direction you want to take them in, any plots you've already half formed, etc.

Some points of business:

• Anyone who was accepted before I began requesting them with application acceptance, please create and link to an info post for your character so I can add it to the taken list.

• A more detailed post regarding the circumstances of the first three plot threads will go up Monday, which will introduce characters to the invasion and the dangers of revealing themselves. One of the three plots is closer to foreshadowing than anything that can be directly be interacted with at the start, but with a game like this you never know.

• You won't have to make AC for the first two months, but I will be requesting you fill out the form when it comes up and then giving me your feedback regarding how easy or hard you found it, both times. The current AC requirements may change in the future based on that input.

• Although applications aren't open yet, I'll be looking for two extra mods soon enough! Duties to be shared will be applications (which will be dealt with in shifts), organisation help (including AC and the taken list), being my American culture expert (what the heck are 'grits' and why would I eat them?) and finally, being privy to and assisting in running plots (so don't consider yourself for the position unless you're okay with spoilers).

Hi folks, I'm Gail, a thirty-something accounting clerk in Southern California who has problems with being addicted to rp (this is my seventh game, eheheh >.> ). I'm going to be playing this slightly geeky biology professor here, who was once a dapper and polite Victorian werewolf from the Parasol Protectorate books. (No, he's not the fourth Doctor, sorry :( I just found the actor online and thought he suited). I look forward to tormenting him with slowly turning back into a werewolf again :D Future plots include learning the shapeshift before learning how to keep his human mind, having trouble with an emerging desire to stick to werewolf-like pack rank, and the full-monty monster come his first full moon after getting wolf shape back >: 3

Hi, people!

I'm Malicious Insect, usually called Mal because that's a pain to type. I'm your resident Mod and my player character is Shendu, the most persistent villain from the TV show Jackie Chan Adventures.

Usually he's a giant dragon demon sorcerer, except for when he's a statue or a ghost and he's all of those at least twice each at some point. In game though, he's an old man and an ex-member of Chinese organized crime who has chilled out a lot these days. His first Echo gave him the power to... float!

My eventual plan for him is to slowly shift from being a creaky ol' grumpy guy who mostly has to sit around at the back and offer advice to being a dangerous guy who abuses his powers for personal gain and who wants to save the Earth only for the chance to carve a chunk of it out for himself.

I'll also be playing what will probably be the only NPC who gets Echoes at first, based on The Walking Dead game's Ben Paul. For those of you unfamiliar, he's basically the Squeaky Voiced Teen from the Simpsons but forced to fight zombies. Don't get attached, he'll be dead in a week, because two universes want to screw him over apparently.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to vibrate with excitement until Monday.

Hey all, I'm Fran who plays this nerd EVERYWHERE. For those who don't recognize him, this is Bakura Ryou from that one manga that's all about card games, Yu-Gi-Oh! [or Yuugiou for the other romanization that's faster to type out :)

Only this isn't just the RPG loving nerd with horribly luck this time. Nope, this guy is ALL THREE Bakurae, Bakura Ryou, Yami Bakura and Thief King Bakura, in one. I'm still not 100% sure how that's going to work but.. it'll be a fun ride either way :D

Hi, folks! I'm Skai, and I'll be bringing in the guy that everybody loved to hate (until he became cool) and star of the most recent Metal Gear game, Raiden. Okay, his real name is Jack, but he has reasons for not liking it too much.

Preincarnation, Jack went through a lot of traumatic shit, pulled through his emo existential crisis phase, and ended up as a vigilante cyborg ninja with a penchant for turning robots into piles of scrap and enemies into small meaty chunks.

Reincarnated, he's a special forces veteran who got his arm blown off and is now working for a security company... at least when he's not drinking himself stupid. He's got a real pretty face, but saying he has a lot of mental and emotional problems is like saying Antarctica is a bit chilly.

I'm hoping to eventually see him get his shit together to a greater or lesser extent, and I think there will be a lot of interesting drama to play out (how will he react to being used by unknown forces to protect the earth when he gets back memories of being a pawn of the Patriots? Only time will tell!)

I've been stoked about this game for what feels like ages, and I'm super-hyped for game opening and the chance to finally RP with every single one of you. LET'S DO THIS THING!

Anyway, my name is Deus (or Desu, or Lisa, whatever your preference) and I am bringing to you one (1) Full Frontal from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, that wonderful series about fabulous giant robots and the fabulous men (and women!) who pilot them. More specifically, Full Frontal is the Big Bad, cloned from the kindly gentleman (maybe you've heard of him) who tried to throw the world into nuclear winter by means of colony/asteroid/various objects of massive size drops. At the moment, he's thinking less nuclear winter, more FREEDOM FOR THE SPACENOIDS, but he's still a pretty nasty guy who'd shoot you in the face if he thought it would aid his glorious cause. He's fond of candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach, terrorizing civilians, and shoving young men against hard metal surfaces.

You could've stopped this, Banagher. You could've stopped this.

Also, he is merely a vessel. Once he reacquires his memory, expect to hear this a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

As far as plans go, Full Frontal has EVOLVED INTO!!! Casval Mass, a former captain in the Royal Air Force and current bigwig politician who has some Issues, primarily with popping pills, also primarily with finding out the hard way how shitty humanity is. Expect to see him nosing about as a major military presence here and getting in everyone's business. And likely setting up a black market of sorts because hey, we gotta work up to that Big Bad status eventually, right? I am a terrible person so expect to see poor Casval put through the ringer as he gradually comes to learn that the Earth he's been saving was the same one he declared fit for eradication in his past... past... life. Feel free to call him Captain Mass/make his life even more terrible however you see fit.

Hi! I'm Harry, I'm from London but I've been in the US for the last month, balancing travelling with telecommuting. Right now I am in Missouri, but I'm heading back home in a week, which will put me firmly back into "oh god my time zones don't line up with ANYBODY" mode (theoretically I'm in GMT, but my work schedule is super weird)

ANYWAY this is Mindfang from Homestuck, she is a sexy alien pirate captain and all around nasty piece of work – her reincarnation, Arianna, is significantly less of a nasty piece of work, and I'm looking forward to having her struggle with what an unpleasant person her past life was! Eventually she'll be regaining mind control abilities – initially she'll be opposed to using them but ha ha we will see how long that lasts. She lectures in history at whatever the university in this city is called so if anybody playing college students or potential other faculty wants CR on that basis then HIT ME UP c: She also writes trashy purple-prosey pirate romance novels under the pen name Nancy Fluke in her spare time

Hello everyone here so far! I'm Anduin and play lots of Farron girls from Final Fantasy XIII.

Here I have Lightning, master of Really Intense Looks and being completely fucking badass. She's a former soldier who, in the process of being especially protective of her little sister, found herself running from the government who thinks that just because - since she was magically branded by a being from the place her civilization believes wants to destroy everything - she needs to die ASAP. Later she gets herself redeemed but then disappears from the normal timeline and becomes even more super ridiculously magically powerful as she runs around in the realm of the dead. WOO!

Meanwhile, her reincarnation goes by Kallie instead and is pretty painfully normal. She's a sophomore athletic training student at Locke City University and works part-time at the health center there... so it's possible that if your character has a reason to be there and especially if they have reason to go to the gym or something, they might have already met her in passing.

Her initial Echo was caused by an attack on her at said health center, not very long before the start of the game- something people around there might have heard about too, perhaps? She's gained the ability to use weak Thunder spells as a result of part of her soul being changed to the 'chaos'-made spirit of FFXIII. :F

Obviously I don't have too many solid plans for her so far aside from a few Echo ideas like... making her hair start turning pink. :D That and just the fun of her regaining powers and memories of a woman who grew up in a radically different culture and then became a demigod fighting to keep reality from imploding.

Canonically, she's a badass soldier/diplomat with excellent skills when it comes to bombs and sharpshooting. That's all gone though and she's pretty much just focused on getting her Marketing degree right now with her new name being Elle. 8) I'm leaning toward having her offer services to associates of Fort Turner down the line by helping them sell weapons to the base. That's after she graduates though. Right now, her job aside from college is tutoring students after class so if you want to build CR that way, just holler. She's a math whiz but I am not. We'll figure it out...

Hey there! I'm Airdra, and I'll be bringing in this guy, Hajime Aikawa from the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Blade. Hajime also goes by the name of Kamen Rider Chalice, and he fights immortal monsters called Undead, defeating them through sealing them into playing cards. Of course, every canon based on a normal deck of playing cards needs a Joker...and Hajime is also the Joker Undead. To make a very long story short, he's not really human, has issues understanding emotions, and would really rather not destroy the world like he was created to do.

Of course, the destruction of one's universe is a good way to get an immortal into the position to be reincarnated, and this time around, Hajime's got everything he ever wanted in canon in that he's a normal human with a family that loves him. (Love. It's the hardest emotion to understand if you're an apocalyptic bug-monster.) His family owns a Japanese restaurant called Aikawa's because I suck at naming things his dad isn't the most creative with names, so if anyone's character likes Japanese food, you might have run into him. He also recently graduated from the university with a business degree, so there's that, too. His first Echo was his bright green Undead blood, so...yeah, he's freaking out.

HELLO. I am Effy, I play Robb Stark here. Spoiler-free version, or as spoiler-free as it can be, anyway: he's a king who makes bad decisions. A lot. But he has a big badass wolf named Grey Wind!

As for his reincarnation, his name's Robert Smith, but he goes by Robb. Not Bert, not Bob, not Robbie, it's Robb. He gets a bit fussy about that, really. He's a Film major at the university, often volunteers at the animal shelter (dogs, man, dogs) and has a string of sucky, short-lived part-time jobs. Most often he's a barista, so if your character hangs out at coffee shops a lot (like Starbucks) then feel free to assume they've met!

His first Echo was brought about by a History Channel Marathon. You know how most of the time beheading looks pretty clean on TV? Yeah. For Robb, it wasn't. As for any other Echo plans, he'll get his big badass wolf back. And possibly memories of exactly how he died, which is spoilery.

Hey babez. I'm Quix and I'll be playing Her Imperious Condescension, or more accurately, Coral Peixes MD PhD and business owner. Hopefully she's out to save the earth as opposed to destroying it like she did last time.

While her past self was an unspeakably terrible, galaxy conquering empress, her current life is that of the owner of a company called Triton Technologies, which is primarily a pharmaceuticals and medical science business. They do things like experiment with genetic engineering and the like and, well, you know all the stuff that would lend itself to becoming a supervillain in a comic book universe.

Cori herself isn't all bad though. She's kind of a jerk, but she's a fun loving jerk who enjoys living the big life with her many many dollars. She also keeps several large colonies of fish and a genuine octopus in her ritzy penthouse condo.

Her first echo was caused by failing at cloning stuff as is her way, but now she's functionally immortal as a result. And she feels (and looks) like she's in her twenties again. Hot damn!

Will she go evil? Who knows.

Well now. I'm pretty late in on this, but never mind.

'Lo, everyone! *bows* My name is Blue, delighted to be bringing in Anthony from the previous-generation cosmic horror-adventure video game Eternal Darkness! In canon, Anthony played the role of a page and messenger for Charlemagne the Frank, who uncovered an assassination plot by an elder god's cult reading the king's mail despite being explicitly told not to and was subsequently blasted with an undead curse, spent a painful hour or two turning into a zombie while desperately looking for the key to the room the kind was at a meeting in, chopped the head off a bishop for it, and was too late by the time he finally got inside, and was locked up in that room alone until I nice Franciscan monk came by six hundred years later in the Spanish Inquisition and bashed his head in.

His reincarnation is named Anthony Janvier, and is a well-bred and goody-goody high school student who was probably teased on occasion in elementary school by people calling him by a handful of different mispronunciations of his last name, and is going to get reeled on into something like a cosmic horror story yet again, about as prepared for it as he was last time.

As for me, if anyone'd like to contact me at any point, a PM to this journal or bluedabadee will do just fine, but I also have a Plurk at BlueVersion - granted that I hardly use it.
