[plot] Gathering the threads, interweaving our stories

Hey everyone!

While not the end of a season, we still might be approaching the end of an arc, and as a number of things might move and change, this is a kind of pre-plot-post post to gather information to be able to properly plan IC happenings on the one hand and OOC who will do whats on the other hand.

Please comment with a link and the briefest description of all large-scale events happening in this post here. This includes killing/injuring mafia higher ups, collateral damage and everything else that could affect the political and public relations situation in Locke City.

There will be tense downtime of five days after the attack. Anyone who would during this time or shortly after
- go to police, FBI, military, media etc (the media in all three countries *will* reach out to the numbered shortly after (specifically to people who have reached out to these media within the last few months), no matter the outcome, and there will be a special political event in Locke, too... The FBI is in the loop about the going-ons (which is a part of the reason why they are on the side of the numbered), yet can of course still be contacted in addition to this)
- would themselves go, or send their family to one of the safe houses that the FBI offers outside of the echo boundaries thanks to numbered requests
please comment here.

Since Emi here is fairly well known, Numbered or not, I think she may not have much of a choice when it comes to the media.

As for the rest of the family (aside from a certain little sneak of a cousin) they'll be in a safehouse.

Arthur will be with Emilia, here. That said, he's not going to be much in the 'hiding' mood at this point.

But of course. She knows he can handle himself and deserves a shot at the mafia too.

In planning for this, L agreed to get Nick's Mafia recordings to the media outlets around the time the attacks happen, meaning that by the following morning, Energy Up and several other major news sources will have some pretty incriminating recordings of Mafia goings-on. Further intent to follow through is stated here, even if the forwarding of the recordings itself happens offscreen.

Since he did provide an interview following the attack on his shop on December 1, media probably would reach out to him, and he would be receptive to saying something.

Hello! No problem, I talked to Nick-mun and she says that the recordings would reveal plans to kill, capture and frame Numbered individuals, and specifically that they were behind the crimes Anthony, Sheila, and Lyall were suspected of. She thinks there would be an emphasis that the mafia was responsible for killing civilians, attacking a coffee shop that wasn't completely occupied by Numbers, and blowing up schools and banks to show that the Mafia weren't only targeting Numbers. There would be talk on the tapes of the Mafia being behind Robyn and Tony's kidnappings, as well as the kidnapping of a ThunderCorp CEO's daughter back when the alien-corrupt cops were still in charge. She also said that if it'd help, Nick could also give over a list of names of the police officers that he knows are corrupt and in with the Mafia, to show that the authorities were unlikely to stop Albero for good.

Saretha is going to strike as soon as possible, in terms of contacting people. The FBI is immediate, as are the reporters that have come in contact with her before hand - this is as soon as she gets the information, and thus probably just prior to the attack. She doesn't agree with what the attacking Numbered are doing because she's fearful of it shooting them in the foot, but she also doesn't want to send them to their deaths - as such, she's not going to blow it to the wider media until AFTER the attack.

She won't go to police, figuring that ... effectively going over their heads with the FBI is a better move.

Otherwise, she'll talk to anyone who comes, and as prominent as she's been she'll be attempting to make her even more so.

I don't have the time until tomorrow for anything but bullet points, but in short!

  • The information Nick would have provided to her, per what his player said on Plurk! (Specifically in the mod Plurk announcing the mafia hoedown.)
  • Which includes information on the, and I quote, "ThunderCorp kidnapping way back when, in Robyn's kidnapping, and in framing the network members."
  • Not to mention evident indications of police bribery.
  • Additionally, she will try to make herself available for questioning and interviews.
  • For the part of the kidnapping, the whole aspect of the mafia keeping FREAKING MONSTERS to sic on them may be touched upon, and she will make the families of Numbered who have been murdered, as well as Anthony, major talking points.

I can flesh this out further later, however!

Lyall is dragging Nick with him to Germany as soon as they get out alive :| They'll be in the hotel there for a while, until they find somewhere to stay, but he'll not be hiding from local media in the area if anyone can guess that he was actually there.

    Aftermath

Shou had been in contact with the FBI liaison for the Numbered giving him information about how the yakuza see the Italians and also some of the trading info that he had known before he told the mob to screw off. He may not approach them directly, but will use the arm of the family lawyer types to suggest a meeting and explain things with them.

And now that I am actually thinking and such, Shou can offer to act as a liaison between the FBI and the figurehead of the yakuza clans if they really need to know what is going on. Otherwise, there will probably be some stirings in the clans as they move in to clean up the contorted deals they had to make with the Italians while settling a few disputes that they weren't able to due to the same Italians. There might even be talk of a consolidation among the groups, especially if there is like a Mr. Chan type person around (mr. chan is a reference to a moon child person who basically took over all the various groups in order to keep trade and businesses to flow smoothly though in the movie, he was a bit of an a$$ about it and got killed by his own people. oops).

That alone would make the hackles of some older yakuza members rise since to them, it's almost a repeat of what was happening when dear Alberto waltz in, so I can imagine that they would pull back as things get a bit weird and solidify their own borders and people, so I can almost imagine the Yakuza acting as a kind of guard for their territory and rioters not associated with that area, might actually find themselves being told to back off in no uncertain terms. (This is sort of a thing that is historically accurate in that the Yakuza were street gangs that kept their streets clean of trouble in exchange for goods and stuff. Sort of a proto-police and/or old school clan thing because trouble is bad for business and they do not want bad business to happen.)
