Plot post for July 30!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently;
• The Vermini swarms have disappeared for the most part, and there's no sign of Vermedi either. Some characters may glimpse hairy figures in dark alleys or in sewers, but the creatures always disappear as soon as they are spotted.

• There are an unusual amount of police patrols out and about in the city. Any suspicious activity will be noticed, though there are no immediate IC consequences.

• We also have two super secret event opportunities that have not been claimed. Two commenters to the thread below will be randomly selected for this plot.

Events occurring in the immediate future;
• Beginning Friday, August 2, there will be something in the water. Drinking any tap water will result in occasional, uncontrollable fits of laughter, along with re-experiencing previous Echoes, especially memory Echoes. One Echo per 8oz glass of water, and the beginning of its effects can be delayed for up to an hour. Within six hours it'll be out of the character's system completely.

• If PCs wish to investigate Thunder Corp this week, comment to the thread below with a general idea of how you plan to get in and what you plan to do once you're there. Details will be forthcoming on a case-by-case basis.

Potential Echo Opportunities:
• Drinking the tainted water will grant one new Echo (and only one, no matter how much water is drunk) in addition to any re-experienced ones. Uncovering any secret information about Thunder Corp will also grant an Echo. Canon parallels are a constant.

Because that's her plan. If she can coordinate with an on-site team and be Mission Control, all the better. She's been (off-screenly) poking at and analyzing their (and the police's) network security for most of the past month so she's reasonably prepare.

She'll also be poking around their financial documents and looking for anything that doesn't add up - money talks (and they'd try to sweep any shady deals under the table, of course) and some people will do anything to try to keep the cash boat floating.

Does anything about the tainted water look odd to ten-billion-color eyes? Some kind of additive that might be invisible to humans?

Julien's still trying to adjust to his eyes, stupidly sensitive and high-frame-rate and all. He's reluctant to go outside alone because he still tends to get distracted and shaken.

Otherwise idk! He certainly might get affected by the water, and since he can't laugh normally anymore he will just sort of... gasp weirdly. Clearly someone needs to see that.

The water looks slightly odd to pigeon eyes. If any effort is made to track down the source of the contamination, he could be useful, but it's not something he'd try and organize.

Fred might try to organize such a thing, especially if he knows there's someone with relevant detection abilities. His last Echo gives him a certain desire to Get Involved and Do Things, especially if those Things involve thwarting Thunder and/or the Gardeners.

So, I'm back! Officially I'm back tomorrow because today was a busy day, but yeah...I'm working on getting my activity back up and definitely willing to plot stuff!

I'll probably definitely be doing something with the water, but I'm not sure what yet! He doesn't have a whole lot of ha-ha moments in the anime version of canon. :|a I might do something silly similar to his sudden skill at kendama if I can come up with something, maybe?

So! Vanessa's going to be sidelined for at least the next couple of weeks while she heals up from her Mystery Event attack. On the bright side, though, Allomancy powers! Once she's back on her feet she'll probably be wanting to practice with them and get them under control, particularly that Steelpushing stuff. So there's that, if anybody wants to come out and target practice or something.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and count on a gigglefit as well. Who the hell has money for bottled water?

Otherwise? Come at me! Always looking for new CR opportunities. All kinds of CR. Whatever you've got, let's hear it.

FOR ALEX, I think it's inevitable that Alex will be drinking some tap water and gettin' the giggles, probably at... home...

BUT I AM REALLY OPEN TO HAVING THIS HAPPEN ELSEWHERE IF WE CAN SWING IT. I definitely want to get him out more, he's been kind of closed off this month because of "oh shit heart stopped, oh shit need blood" dramas. (EDIT: maybe at Starbucks (they use tap water, right?) or a convenience store?!)

Sadly, I'm not very good at making up general open posts, though I'm still working on one... But yeah!! I am open to pre-existing and new CR alike!

FOR FRAN, not sure if I'll be keeping her. This was a busy month for Alex, so she got shafted. I will likely incorporate the tainted water in an effort to get into a groove with her and I am definitely open to CR, as well!

Sadly, neither are really really into INVESTIGATING!! Thunder Corp right now, though Alex is leaning more towards finally taking a pro-active stance on all this crazy stuff. So if he does get involved with the current investigation, it'll be because he's tagging along, not instigating.

Hajime's still stuck as a giant bug, going to go stir crazy and make a really ill-advised jaunt outside for a little bit, and probably be a strange occurrence in and of himself. But at least he'll be able to turn human again after drinking the water. |D

Arthur will be drinking the water, and he'll be getting some water-related power back, probably breathing underwater because nothing could go wrong under these circumstances.

I'm not sure what Mort will be doing. He's still a little mopey now that his brother's gone, and he'd probably have one doozy of a memory flashback if anyone were to be near him if he drinks the water.

Lyall is going on vacation come next week Tuesday, and then will be gone for a week and a half/two weeks/something like that, but I'll have to get him in on the giggle shenanigans at some point before that, because hilarity.

awww yes, gigglefits for this kid, most definitely. as for re-experiencing echoes, i'm thinking i'll go with his initial one, except he might try to remember the speech more in depth this time, since it was sort of a secondary thing he still struggles with. anyone want to try and help him write it down in between laughter?

So timing is a wonderful thing and I sort of joined right before the finals for my summer courses. LUCKILY, I will be finished with those on Thursday. SO I'LL BE AROUND TO DO MORE THINGS.

Logan here will definitely be drinking the water. He doesn't really laugh a lot .... at all. So it'll be incredibly unsettling! I found a video reference with his voice actor and everything. It might happen at work so if anyone wants to deal with that.... yeah have at it. No previous memory echoes to re-experience, but he will be getting a new one! Not quite sure what yet, but IT WILL PROBABLY BE USELESS. Like his "British" accent.

Also, he's doing that YA book cover photoshoot thing, so there's that. He'll also probably realize at some point that oh hey he sort of knows how to use swords there, since that was his first echo and it hadn't been relevant enough to notice before. So that's a noteworthy thing.

Other than that, he works at Pizza Hut on a regular basis so that's always an option I guess! O:

Anyway, I am always open to most things. I'd love some new CR of all sorts and to get him more involved yeah!

Nick is definitely going to be drinking the water and having giggle fits, as well as reliving canon memories - not that he has anything all that traumatic yet.

He'll hopefully be getting back his ability to tell when people aren't human, if that gets approved, so if that happens, anyone interested in doing something with that?

Aside from that, Nick is still new-ish but is definitely poking around, so I'd love more CR opportunities! He's a police officer, but he's doing his best to hide that (aside from the three or so people who know). If anyone wants to run into him while he's on the job or anything involving that, I'm more than game!

Even if that's still awhile off, she's always breaking some kind of law so that could still make for some interesting interactions when it comes to Numbers Club stuff, if you're interested.

Both Anthony and Cinderella are going to be getting dosed with tainted water!

In Anthony's case, what with his physical systems dying off, he isn't likely going to be one of the ones hit with the worst of it - but he is going to be drinking enough water for an Echo that'll cause him to go a tad more zombie, and involuntarily re-experiencing visions he knows he shouldn't be experiencing may produce another Echo. As he still isn't getting out especially much, both the turning and the outburst of "This can't - be - HAPPENIIIIING!! D8" are likely going to be happening out of sight unless anyone might for whatever reason be interested in having their character bear witness. XD I'd also certainly be willing for an excuse to have him lured out to succumb to a giggle-fit within earshot of others - and also he'll be taking turning further, whether or not anyone else notices (the difference to his outward appearance will be quite minor, so he'll stay vague about it) will have him look into sorting out some more stable general living arrangement.

Cinderella, meanwhile, I still lack more elaborate plans for, but I still owe thee a log, Airdra, if you'll not mind backdating it! Not a clue yet on what Echo she'll receive from her drinking water, either - but, well, she drinks like a horse! Expect her to make a network post sometime this week very giggly wearing a pair of red glasses with a song stuck in her head.

iirc Teal mentioned that Maya would be opening her home to the number folk who might need a place to stay BUT if the topic of where to stay ever comes up between Anthony and Alex, Alex would offer his place, too.

Actually, if you're interested in that being a thing -- oh, hm. I was going to say that it could be set up in the lsr log, but that might not jive with the logs set after it... WELL we can def work something out if you're interested!

Bakura is.... still recovering a bit from a nasty echo that triggered a fugue state and has been keeping more to himself lately and has been pretty low energy for him since then. The water-echoing liikely isn't going to help with that much and he may need to reachout to a few people to stabilize.

Siegfried has been spending most of his time dancing since he got that echo back, as well as being.. well.. a reckless idiot in many respects. Windows are a bigger danger than before! The water laugh will likely be the first laugh anyone's heard from him! And it'll just confuse him that he's doing it... :)

I was actually thinking of throwing together a Marisa post going on about trying to organize all the shit that's going on into one big rambling conspiracy theory. It might be a thing for her to have part of that be asking "And does anyone know what happened to Bakura?"

I don't think Aria even knows Thunder Corp investigating is a thing (unless someone mentions it to her in the future), so she probably will not be involve in that. She drinks tap water usually though (...filtering it is a hassle), so she will probably get dosed with that. Since she only has the one memory echo/echo at all (unless I do a request?) and it isn't one she minds, she will probably be more or less 0kay with this, if mildly weirded out and annoyed. I am really up for doing anything with her, though, tbh! I'd like to get her involved in stuff.

Also, if I can decide what would make sense/be fun, she might get an echo from this? I will consider it more later. But yeah, hit me for whatever.

Edit: actually it is my new goal to rack up memory echoes of different forms just to confuse the hell out of aria, so I think (?) maybe something from one of those. IDK.

Otherwise, he'll just be giggling on the network and wanting to freeze things and "teleport" and junk. Stable, responsible kid here, folks. Totally.

Robert will...I don't know, get his bladestaff back or something, I haven't given it a lot of thought. Right now I'm still building him some initial CR and figuring out what his place is going to be in the game, so this is pretty bare bones.

I think Marisa is going to get a fuzzy pile of memories of a party at the Hakurei shrine, and thus have vague impressions of a bunch of people from her past life that will be very unreliable because she was very drunk at the time. More importantly, she's going to start work on a huge, vaguely disorganized conspiracy theory chart, complete with photos and news stories connected pinned to a cork board and connected by red thread, keeping track of all the stuff that she's pick up on, and share it with the network. She ALSO will be starting to visit your homes, impose on your hospitality, and steal borrow your stuff. I want to do at LEAST one log about her doing this.

OH YEAH and the gigglewater. Bob probably mainly drinks pristine bottled water, gatorade, and shit like that, he probably won't actually fall to this one, but Marisa drinks whatever whenever. Expect her to be laughing more than usual.

I'm gonna hold off on signing up Lloyd for secret plots since he's still figuring out what little everyone knows. Though the water thing will be fun, I'll definitely do that. Maybe I can get in another Echo before then somehow...

But yes, Lloyd has finally realized this place isn't random and boring and has started paying attention! He's mostly trying to figure out how to connect with everyone else who's related by he's not sure what and what the thing is he's not sure of that's connecting them. Otherwise, it's summer break so he's being a typical teen enjoying the fact that he's not in school.

He might drink tap water by accident anyway, like from a water fountain or something. I don't know yet. If he does, then uh pretty much the only echo he has to re-experience is getting his intangibility so I guess he'd be clumsier than usual, feet going through the floor and arms through the wall constantly.

Otherwise I don't have anything strictly planned, Thunder Corp investigation related or otherwise, but if anyone wants to do anything with him then I am all for planning that out here too!!

Danny and Aria haven't talked, but they're about the same age - Aria's 16, so she could have seen him around school. Enough to accept water? Especially after she drinks the actual conspiracy water. :T I want to get her talking to more of the high school students and stuff, sooo.

MAYA AARONSON has her own house. It's actually decently large, like, single-family home sized with a furnished basement. She ALSO has a garden out back with two (noisy) hens, a beehive, carrots, tomatoes, corn, and some other delicious East Coast noms (STRAWBERRRIESSSS) (KALE). Also, there's three cats.

Maya will be offering rooms in her house to ANYONE in the Numbers Club who needs a place to stay, be it because of physical mutation that makes it hard for them to go out, or just generally shitty life circumstances. The caveat? You'll have to take care of her animals and plants, annnd she might get a goat soon. Because goats.

So I was thinking for her Echo Kairi will get the story about the worlds and light from her grandmother when she was bitty. She'll tell it over the network, but might ping Maya because wow what a weird story right??

Becky's gonna have her some water! I have yet to decide what the Echo for that will be, but it might be her Tesla's charger - after which she'll realise how few shots it actually holds and ask if anyone can make it better. Things she is not (and wasn't in her past life): mechanically minded.

Also at some point I want her to pronoun-slip while talking HG Wells with someone. That may have to be an action post soonish.
