Plot Post for November 16th!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that we will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit, they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

State of current events:

• The Numbered's own Octavia Serket ([personal profile] drama8om8) and Alan Hunter ([personal profile] wirsinddiejager) began an unorthodox vigilante investigation of Thunder Corp.'s business in Tuning Towers with a break-in to and diversionary attack on the upper floors on the night of November 11th and have as the night of the 14th been rescued from detention by their fellows; a hunt is now announced as on for a pair of young vandals and the suspected terrorist organization - so the authorities say - that they represent.

Serket and Hunter's names and photographs are on the news as the perpetrators of the break-in who escaped holding in the raid on the police station on the 14th - and where the police are at work identifying and locating the rest on what leads they have (notably at the identified vandals' school of attendance Locke City High), one may notice that spells of civilian space-out - semi-regularly, for less than thirty-second periods - follow them.

• For better or for worse, current events are doing nothing to relieve the atmosphere of panic and paranoia in Locke City or do a thing for the city's evolving reputation - current events coverage of all forms is buzzing with talk of all the inexplicable and bizarre goings-on. Rumors and speculation circulate and bend through independent sources and features on exactly what is going on in the city; there is no shortage of conspiracy theories that can be dug up attempting to explain the connections between any and all currently-controversial local or federal parties on the so-called eco-terrorism scare. Fueled by the internet, new urban legends abound, from the peculiarly-isolated rash of lethal disease afflicting the city's pigeons to rumors of cockroach men in the sewers and a brilliant explosion in the sky over the city outskirts the night of November 1st.

More general news media has, meanwhile, in addition to the predictable, begun calling attention to a somewhat particular handful of missing persons cases - out of which the most publicized and likely outstanding by far are those of Mikasa Bito ([personal profile] erenplz), fifteen-year-old daughter of a Thunder Corp. employee and suspected innocent victim of hostility toward the company; and the reclusive local sculptor David Proud, whose work was previously so prominently displayed in the local museum.

• Access to the bombed areas is still restricted - however, as thorough examination and cleanup ends so Thunder Corp.'s rebuilding can begin, despite any effort to keep it entirely quiet to avoid causing further scene, some word has leaked out that the bombings have proven to be disturbingly odd, with reincarnates affiliated with the police able to catch wind of the factual details: whatever method used hasn't left a trace of evidence of conventional bombing, no radiation, chemical traces, and even minimal fire - with nothing brought to light pointing to some alternative method.

• The mission headed by Ravindra Savarna ([personal profile] healspec) in the city's undergroung did not result in accomplishment of its participants' declared goal: to find the producer of and stop that mysterious buzzing noise. Thus, its presence in reincarnates' heads goes on - at least for any of the newly-numbered it ought to be easy to tune out! Also remaining in place are the likelihood of witnessing groups of citizens falling under a "zone-out" effect and the amount and degree of presence by the police (both as described on October's plot post).

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• No obvious changes in the state of things to occur presently are apparent. If the silence - or rather the buzzing - is too deadly for you, either keep your head low as long as it lasts or take advantage of the room in which you've still got to move!

Events potentially occurring in the immediate future:

• As it looks as if their opposition is getting more restless - and, as it would seem, more reckless - the Enemy will be likewise getting bolder and more intent in bringing them under control.

Any player-run plots and events that would run the risk of drawing attention to player characters will run the risk of being "crashed" - participants and/or organizers of any, know that you may be contacted before or in the early stages of any such plot to approve/opt out and plot outcomes and developments accordingly.

On the other hand, just as before, feel free to leave and/or update a comment for your character(s) to the sign-up thread under our previous plot post if you're interested in trouble finding them on its own!

In either case, if you receive an event PM or Private Plurk, you may opt out!

Potential Echo Opportunities

Visits to Tuning Towers for the first time after October 23rd will continue to grant Echoes indefinitely - for anyone willing to get that close to the police! Unique incidents, investigations, and other current and forthcoming events are also liable to yield Echoes for reincarnates involved.

Please direct questions regarding these plot points to the thread below and not the post in general.

I know Julien and Aaron are going to try and investigate the bombed out parts of the DD! Ranger and spy with complimentary abilities, what fun. |D I'd rather that was just those two and anything they find, if they find anything, though.

Julien's likely to be injured late this month or early the next. That is also the time when his hearing changes and he starts hearing storms and oceans and mountains and things, and needs people talking to him.

I'll get up a post about changing behavior in the pigeons in the next week or so; basically some are growing to corvid-level (or dolphin-level, elephant-level, orangutan-level, toddler-level...) intelligence, and deviating a little from standard pigeon behaviors. Not by much, or not right away, but it's there if you look.

thanks to plurk i wanna do this Hey hey hey, wanna write for the internet?

Miles got an idea. Just a dumb little idea. See, things are pretty crazy in the city right now, and Miles is thinking of commenting on it in such a sarcastic and snarky way that only a highly intelligent teenager can muster, like a Cracked.com article.

"[insert number here] Ways That Locke City is the Site of the Future Apocalypse"

Who wants to co-author with him? He doesn't have an account yet, but if he'd make one it'd definitely not be in his name. If your character has one though, we could work that out! We could handwave him privately contacting your character with the offer, if you'd like.

OOCly, I would also appreciate a co-author or a bunch because I don't think I'd be at the cracked.com level juuuust yet =n=;;

WHEATLEY IS KIND OF STRESSED OUT. This is stressing him out. He's been laying low and hasn't been doing much with regards to the infiltrations and rescues because I have been really busy at work he is kind of scared shitless of the repercussions. Rest assured that when people start coming back with results/information he'll probably...berate them and tell them what a terrible idea it all was and continue to be super unhelpful as far as actually accomplishing things goes. That's just how he do. He is pretty sure all the zoning out is actually mind control.

THAT SAID with all the current happenings I think I'd like to start having him put himself out there for computer/hacking/info mining help, perhaps with regards to all that missing persons stuff if any other technologically inclined guys are interested.

And, of course, I am always open to more adventurous types dragging him into trouble if a whiny liability sounds like fun. HE HASN'T HAD AN ECHO IN A WHILE this is a thing that should probably change.

I have nothing planned really with Audrey, besides practicing duets with some people and such. If your character is interested, you can feel free to hit up her inbox and just say you heard about it on the network.
peacefulwinter: (I d-don't want to have to...!)

Now that I've got two:

Winter will continue to take severe offense at the police presence and increasing investigation - and is likely to put together that the investigation is tied to the mass spacing out, which will in turn make her even more set against the police. If they don't take major action - or find Octavia or Alan - she'll just sulk (and complain on the network and/or to anyone that will listen in the school). But, if something happens, Winter will take whatever measures she has to to make sure everyone is safe. Yes, this puts her at major risk herself, but she's okay with that, because that damned messiah complex of hers is getting in the way again. Oops.

Aside from that, Winter can be found in her usual haunts: hanging out in front of the student council room and/or out front of the school just before and after classes, at the public library, and occasionally at a coffee shop or other hangout spot, in the latter two cases with her nose in a book. She will, however, be visibly more tense, and across the board she'll be more irritable.

I have quite a bit less knowledge of the middle school's climate, but Ethan is out and about as well; soccer season is starting to wind down, and that means Ethan is taking what's left of it quite seriously, as well as starting to shift a little bit of his attention back to his studies. Now that he's part of the network, he's starting to notice some of the oddities around town, and he doesn't like what he's seeing. Expect to see Ethan anywhere the numbered are known to frequent, keeping an eye on things and making a little effort (but not much) to stay unobtrusive about it.

I am totally up for anything anyone wants to start plotting out! Winter is a little passive about things, and Ethan's brand new, so I need ideas!

i just have one thing that i might like to play out, if anyone has any techno-nerds or physicists they can contribute! back when the snake statues were still standing in the dead district, bananas echoed back a human-sized beam saber (the gundam weapon of choice™) that comes with its own minovsky particles which don't exist in real life.

UNTIL NOW

minovsky physics make my poor brain whirl so i won't go into it, but if any characters who have the inclination to check out some futuristic weaponry (i.e. what amounts to a light saber) that shouldn't exist would be game for helping him figure out what he's dealing with, i'd love it!

[personal profile] scramasax 2013-11-17 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I've got no particular plans to start with for either of my two in terms of primary plot that come to mind - any that can be made will be wonderful!

Anthony is by necessity sticking to his usual - staying with John Mitchell and by now possibly either in or just done with the process of moving, keeping an eye on the network, and trying to keep himself occupied and productive however he can without going outside. He'll figuratively leap at the chance to be involved in any and all missions or rescues he'd be allowed on - even if, as it's been shown he can reasonably be allowed to do, mission control of sorts.

As for Cinderella, she's also currently hanging hone and chatting on the network - she on the other hand's relatively content that way, as she's got no reason to think she's attracted attention to herself and by association her owners and their kids. A little something to shake up her status quo however would be lovely - and her next plot Echo will be her horn!

Luci will be doing some work. She'll be looking for people to help start an investigative group, likely small at first, to try to compile information. She'll be looking for those both on the inside (police, anyone related to Thundercorp, either through the company or indirectly), those good with computers (see: hackers), and others who have means in which to get information (I believe there was someone not too long ago that found some information about the origin of Locke City; stuff like that). She'll be approaching a few people directly, but for the most part will be reaching out to those who are proactive and not afraid of what they might find--or what might find them.

Sanae I'm not really sure on yet.

Elly is still trying to sort all of this Numbered stuff out, but will probably be keeping tabs on both her department at the university as well as the hospital (where she's currently interning in the pediatric ward). She hasn't gotten any of her powers yet, so she'll be taking a very backseat approach and just observing for now.

IDIOTIC SUPERHEROICS?

[personal profile] reapsthewind 2013-11-17 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Chris is getting seriously reckless, and now that she has a source of Energon thanks to Dr. Ratchet, she's getting stupid, because she has some minor powers. She doesn't have enough to do full flight yet (I figure that she'll have to Echo back internal storage capacitors or... something, for that) but with enough stored on her person she can basically rocket jump, float down off buildings, and generally move pretty fast.

She's also pissed as hell and tired of sneaking around, even if it's stupid; this is a direct result of Echoing back Starscream's somewhat cavalier arrogance when it comes to combat situations—she's going to want to act NOW and FAST and WITH VIOLENCE right up until things go south, at which point she'll probably panic and blame it on everyone but herself. Whoops. Thanks, other self, thanks.

SO, with mod permission (which I'll ask for) she's going to be starting to do vigilante bullshit. This will begin with rescuing civvies from criminals, but with the secondary objective of keeping tabs on anyone in authority who looks like they might be agents of The Enemy... and making plans to do something about those people.

Because nothing like getting in way over your head and attracting massive unwanted police attention.

*e* NOTE! Chris will not be advertising that she's doing this on the Network at all, nor talking about it to pretty much anyone (yes, even you, Shiro, and Elian) but if the mods OK this, they will notice that her sleep/work schedule is even more erratic than usual, and she's more often not at home. LONE WOLF. You are welcome to encounter her out on patrol.

So the main thing I want to set up for Annie right now is getting her transformation back! All I really need to spark this is some kind of action event, during which Annie can try to protect someone against overwhelming supernatural monster odds despite having no meaningful powers, which echoes back her magical sparkle superhero nonsense and then I have a brawler for future plots.

I've talked a bit with the players of Danny, Winter and Rita about this, but nothing's set in stone. Who wants to plot some shit? Teaming up to fight snake statues or aliens or whatever's coming down on our heads next.

Outside of lending a hand with finding the snake making guy, Shou just got back some early memories of killing people and robbing them of all their goods and the other basics of his little gang of street punks. He is going to be shook up about it, but not as much as he thinks he should be... which will have him questioning his mentality because a normal person should actually feel bad about killing even in his past, right?

In fact, he'll be posting about it real soon.

I have no particular plans for Toushirou at the moment, but all this increased activity is definitely going to stress him out. He'll probably be more snappy than usual and feel an increased sense of urgency to do something. They just don't seem to be getting anywhere, and amidst all this chaos, that's going to really bother him.

He'll be pretty much about his usual places. Being school, home, and doing errands for his Granny when she needs him to. But he's not going to want to go somewhere unnecessarily. Just in case. He'll still be up for investigating and such, but any general hanging out aside from at the middle school is probably a no-go for now.

Oookay was talking about this with Sheepy/Luci's player, but. How many people would be interested in characters taking more of an overt stand to everything that's going on?

Zelos is actually Not That Terrible at playing political games. He could drop the "haha I'm just a stupid celebrity" act and call for people to get it together. Specifically he has a big old laundry list of Things That Need Answers. Investigating Thundercorp, the police, Sherman, Vincent Albero and General Miller are kind of the start of it, but re-visiting the mines for more possible info about the "gem of earth" stuff the Sage talked about and figuring out just what the snake statues are would also be on there.

Luci is going to be whipping up investigations regardless (Sheepy's comment is over here for anyone who missed it). But Zelos would essentially make an open call/challenge for people to get it together and be more proactive despite all the danger.

To facilitate this he would ALSO...make it really obvious to Thundercorp that he might possibly know things. Essentially paint a target on himself to try and get some of the pressure in the city to ease up a little so the Numbered can work better without the cops and monsters breathing down their necks. If anyone wanted to mess with Thundercorp with him and be a front group for the enemy to target while the rest of the Numbered got down to the real business at hand, he'd certainly welcome it.

Would something like this interest anyone? I'm cool with someone else instigating something like this too if someone has a character they'd prefer to do it with; Zelos is a pretty hard guy to trust. Thoughts?

Naomi is continuing to not actually get involved in in exploration/directly doing things, but at some point she'll be communicating the results of the bombing investigation, i.e., the lack of visible methodology.

At some point I also want to actually put up that list of potential research/volunteer stuff, which is overdue but kind of got lost because of my own schoolwork. In the same post Naomi may also end up discussing the possibility of compiling other data, like echoes and information and whatnot.

Putting this up despite being braindead from having to work really really late...

Hajime will be getting very antsy anytime anyone mentions the rumors of the cockroach men living in the sewers because wherever could such rumors have come from? He is willing to serve as a participant in any sort of combat activities, even if he's kind of worried his bug monster instincts are trying to run away with him.

Arthur went on Ravi's mission and was no help at all on the radio, and he's echoing back his superheroic physique and superhero suit, which he will be posting about to the network soon. He is also available if anyone wants to go on an ADVENTURE or make terrible life decisions.

And Mort will be...uh...good question. >.>

Reimu continues to be herself and refuses to be involved with the serious stuff going on. She's getting seriously annoyed with the buzzing by this point, though I don't know what she could do about that.

I really need a reason to get her to care. In canon, even when it actually was her job, she usually refused to get involved in serious stuff until it started to personally inconvenience her in some way, so I'm sure there's something. At the moment all I've got is her annoyance with the buzzing from the Tuning Towers, but it's still not quite urking her enough for her to risk getting arrested.

Other than that, I still intend to get her more echos that will unlock more of her canon powers, including a spell card and flight.

Danny is going to struggle with wanting to lay low after breaking Alan and Tavia out (especially since the news is also condemning the "terrorist organization" that he is apparently a part of) and wanting to do more to keep people safe. This will be made more difficult by the fact that he is going to be regaining his dumb superhero spandex suit soon, right in the midst of high police activity at school.

He's also keeping an eye out on the Locke conspiracy forums as well as dinner table conversation to find out more on any other theories that are bouncing around that sound plausible. He might make more conspiracy compilation posts in the future! (I might ask people to contribute, even, if they want to!)

Jovan...will continue to be a massive tit on the network and treat everything like a game. That's...really it, that's all I have planned for him. Just being a tit.

Okay I should be emerging from a hiatus to a slowatus sometime in the next week, then properly returning a bit after that. But I have quite a few plans in store for when I get back.

First off, the explanation for Luke's lack of activity is going to be fairly simple. His Grandfather is concerned about recent events and has been spending more time with him, getting him involved with extra curricular activities (basketball), and just being more observant around him in general. At the advice of resident Grump Captain Toushirou, Luke has been keeping his head down and his ears covered as best he can. But eventually he will get tired of all this and start to act out again.

There are a few upcoming echos I have planned for him. The first is that he will be getting his wallet back, shortly followed by regaining the ability to find rupees. When he realizes that he may get shiny gems from cutting greenery he will excitedly be asking the network if anyone has any weedwacking or hedge trimming they might need.

Secondly he's going to get the Ocarina of Time back. This will open him up to be able to learn some more songs, although the only ones available at this time would be the Sun's Song and Saria's Song. The Sun's Song will likely be triggered by meeting/seeing Anthony for the first time, but we haven't worked out when exactly that will happen.

Finally he's going to regain memories of Dodongo's Cavern, and eventually The Bomb Bag. These are going to operate as closely to actual OOT bombs as possible, aka he can easily hurt himself with them, and if he takes a bomb out of the bag the fuse is lit and cannot be doused or diffused in any way. This is obviously pretty likely to draw suspicion and cause property damage. If anyone wants to be involved in that shenanigan I was hoping I could set his first disastrous explosion at either a residential place, or his elementary school.

If you'd like to trigger/be involved with any of the above drop me a note here! I know I also have some plans with people made at the last CR meme, not all of which have happened yet, so feel free to pester me about those too, so I know what to go back and catch up on when I do make my return.

Oh and at some point he's going to regain ridiculous video game flipping agility, but that's not one we have to really worry about pacing or chronology for.

Ohhhhh snap. Alan is going to be laying low, obviously, and getting increasingly frustrated with that. He's not going to be trying any idiot heroics any time soon again, though. Not yet. If anyone comes up with plans to target Thundercorp in a more intelligent way he'll do everything he can to support it because fuck those guys.
parkourbot: (◘ rock out with my hood off)

Robert is still pretty fucked up from being in the hospital. He'll mostly be lurking around and watching people in public places. He'll probably be laying low while he watches, which is a prime opportunity for him to spy on cops and at least notice the weird behavior of civilians around them. If any character wants messages delivered in a more IRL fashion, or to get something from one place to another in an inconspicuous way, Holloway has a way and will be willing to do the thing.

Kanti is constantly and quietly panicking on the inside and will generally be a little more jittery and quick to react as the month goes on. She's gonna be paranoid and callous when it comes to anything involving the cops. She's probably up for taking part in side missions, but she's not exactly keen on being a Main Character in anything. She does know how to use her chainsaw now though, so she could be useful in a fight if it was a thing that happened.
