PLOT POST FOR MAY 3RD
This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.
The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.
Events occurring currently;
• Nothing notable. Hope you enjoy the quiet for a little longer.
Events occurring in the immediate future:
• On May 6th, one of Locke City's most prominent art galleries will have three new statues on display. You get three guesses who they're made by and what they are of. Well, you're probably wrong on the third one. Because whilst two are large snake statues, the final one is instead a wolf.
All three have pseudo-Echo abilities. The first snake statue, depicting a snake coiled around a heart, influences ordinary humans to consider all of them to be glorious works of art. The second snake statue, depicting a snake with its chest opened to show a heart, convinces people to support and purchase the product of the Thunder Corporation. The final statue, depicting a wolf howling in pain due to the knife in its heart, has something a little different. It's a message for the reincarnated characters. With no audible words, it conveys the message that they should cease interfering with their business for the sake of humanity and themselves. It also comes with a web address to an ordinary webforum, titled 'Let's Negotiate' and with a single post, also titled 'Let's Negotiate.' A post will go up for characters to reply to it if they choose.
Thanks to the influence of the first statue, there will be a lot of buzz surrounding the statues by May 8th and they'll appear on the news, in papers and characters will probably hear about them through word of mouth too. Following the craze more info regarding everyone's favourite sculptor will be divulged, stay tuned. Yes, you can buy little plastic statues and no they won't give you an Echo.
Preemptively; the statues are under observation, because they're in an art gallery. Everything in there is.
• Speaking of May 8th, the Dead District will see some action again as ten or so thuggish fellows will show up in a highly populated area and tell all present hobos they have a week to clear out or be cleared out. People who get smart or get aggressive in regard to the threats can expect to meet the wrong end of a fist several times, so at least one of the homeless there will be made an example of. They'll only be there for a brief time, but we know when they'll be back now.
• Last but not least a much more mysterious than usual little event. In one of the few potentially self resolving ones, from May 5th to May 14th, characters may start to experience some or all of the things listed below, particularly after dark. But only a few characters at a time, no more than four characters a night and never the whole night. So please schedule amongst yourselves and be mindful of characters that might need the experience more than others.
-A feeling that someone is following them around their home/somewhere they frequent often.
-A sensation of being watched from a distance.
-Sudden chills, that cause hairs to rise.
-A feeling of weakness/dizziness. In particularly physically fragile characters (e.g elderly, infirm, very young, ferrets) this may lead to brief fainting spells.
-Smelling wet dog.
-Just as they are about to fall asleep, hearing a long and pained howl of absolute anguish from a canine. No one else will able to hear it.
-In their dreams, the phrase 'I wanted to save the Earth' being said by an adult man.
A special note regarding this event; if a character already possesses a ability which could conceivably allow them to perceive spirits/ghosts and you want a special little booster plot, you can flag yourself up and I'll privately tell you the ~secret details~.
Potential Echo Opportunities
The snake statues (but not the wolf statue) offer an Echo each at a touch. But be aware that any person touching both will be noticed and possibly investigated. On the other hand, hanging out in a room with three of the statues for a period of time between an hour or two (it will vary between people) will grant a single Echo. Doesn't stack with touching them, before anyone asks; it's two at a risk or one safe. (That one in the police station is still there, by the way, if someone can touch that without it being weird.)
Accessing the webforum will not grant an Echo, but posting a reply to it will. It will be possible to get a second during conversation, but how is a secret until it happens.
If someone happens to touch the thugs, they'll receive an Echo. Fairly unlikely on their first appearance, but like I said before... you know when they'll be back.
Any one of the symptoms of the visit from the strange presence can trigger an Echo. One per person, of course.
Canon parallels are still active.
Please direct questions regarding these plot points to the thread below and not the post in general.
