Plot post for June 23rd

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that we will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently:

• The attempt to trap the reincarnated characters underground and apparently try to kill all of them there was, obviously, a complete bust- though for reasons that go beyond what has been seen. The enemies' actions have gone curiously quiet.

• To the utter disbelief of the art-appreciating citizens of Locke City, the statues that were at the Hugh P. Thadson Gallery of Fine Art have been unceremoniously removed... to where, nobody seems to know.

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• With summer in full swing, Locke City is in a state of having as much fun as possible in the heated weather, with various festivals and the like going on even in anticipation of July 4th coming up. Take a break from the stress, everyone!

• That said, the Vermini are back. Just like before, animals will begin to show up with suspiciously human or mutated features: birds with teeth, Yorkies with thumbs, long-haired frogs, and things of that nature. Individual vermini may only control a very small animal, though several together may infect something larger. For now, sightings are rare, and the animals appear shy and unwilling to approach even as they show up where the reincarnated characters live and/or gather.

Events potentially occurring in the immediate future:

• The so-called Sage of Earth mentioned quite a bit of things. Gems of Earth. Chosen ones. A seal and a need to keep something out. On the other hand, he was a dirty old man who then died immediately before everyone was attacked and the mines starting caving in. What the characters choose to do with this information is up to them... but honestly, they aren't going to find anything.

Potential Echo Opportunities
As with before, simply seeing the Vermini-altered animals is not enough to induce an Echo, but directly interacting with one in some way is. As always, canon recurrences remain a constant option as well.

Okay, so it was discussed in a couple of threads with Chris for some of the characters to use robot drones she was going to provide to investigate the mines. Tamara volunteered to help with that. I was wondering what anyone who volunteered there would find as far as clues and such?

It's highly unlikely that Alex will want to return to the mines, so iffy on action there. I may have him interact with a Vermini to kickoff a personal plot for him involving his preincarnation's dead wife. |Da

For now, he's more cautious about being 'out' and probably isn't doing much aside from his job. I'm not sure if he'll be going to the festivals, but if anyone would like a log/thread/what have you, then I can throw him out there!

EDIT: Unless there's, like, a farm fair or some kind of related booth. Then he'll probably be volunteering there and hoping someone doesn't knife him in the crowds because that would be messy and unpleasant.

Alex-mun is also likely needed, if just off-screen to give Gomez permission to go :B We can handwave the background info and just log the failed sneakery, but I wanna work out how it happen(s) here?

Chris owns a number of remote-controlled drones! This is because she's a grad student studying aeronautical engineering specializing in avionics, eg, control systems for aircraft, and her specialty is drones. She mentioned before she left that she'd lend them to anyone who asked. I'd still like to know if you asked her.

THE DRONES:

One question though, do they have a camera of some sort for someone to monitor what they are seeing?

Haha, oh man, I'm really excited because a lot of this sounds like it'll give Colette some canon parallels! Since canonly she's The Chosen One, they deal with seals in the canon, etc etc.

In general she's healing up pretty quickly thanks to her increased endurance, so she should be okay for the fun events! I was thinking about having her running some sort of booth, like baked goods or specialty teas since her family owns a tea parlor! She may even look to scout another employee to work at the parlor since she's fronting most of the work herself.

Basically, Colette's up for anything! I am signing her up for the mystery event though, in case she gets chosen!

Phillip just got part of an ability back, so if anyone wants to be involved in trying and failing to kill a ten year old, that could be a thing! 8D

If not, though, I am working towards a goal of being a total asshole with his Echos a bit down the line. :') It almost certainly won't go into effect before the next plot post, but if you would eventually like to be involved in the clean up (emotionally and physically) of some very creepy powers gone awry, let me know!

I am too lazy to switch accounts right now, but Mort could help with the cleanup with Phillip's powers--he's a psychiatrist, so he's actually capable of doing physical treatment as well as taking care of the more traumatic mental things, too.

Not that he would want to try and fail to kill a ten-year-old because COME ON he's not evil yet.

Hajime wants to stay far, faaaar away from the mines, because it was a trap. He also has an echo of being told he needed to be sealed and another where he knew he needed to be sealed, so he'll just be staying away from anything remotely related to traps and seals and sealing, thank you very much. Maybe he'll be running a Japanese food booth at one of the festivals?

Arthur is basically open for anything, although I'm toying with the idea of having him encounter a Vermeni-infested fish somewhere, if anyone's interested. He'd also probably be willing to drive the bus back up to the mines for a bit of exploration, if anyone else wants.

Mort is always open for anyone who needs to talk about the mess at the mines or anything upsetting related to this whole numbers thing. I am not sure what he'll be doing beyond this, so, hey, if someone wants to drag a doctor out to have some fun or get into trouble...

Alrighty. I won't be opting Toushirou in for the mystery plot. Gotta give other people room to do cool stuff with their characters.

So I guess it'll be a bit more slice-of-life for him right now, though he will always find time to talk about SERIOUS BUSINESS. Oh, and he'll probably work up the resolve to practice his "teleporting" at some point. He kinda doesn't want to, because he feels really really sick after doing it, but he figures that if he gets used to it, that won't happen anymore. So yeah. Practicing that and thus feeling sick.

And it's summertime, so he's free from school and people can drag him into off-the-wall shenanigans! Seriously, any ideas you folks have, hit me up.

Shou is going to have a birthday this up coming month AKA July 4th. As is standard back home, he usually ends up having a large public affair where he has to act like a proper dignified moneyed snob for friends of his father and mother during the day, but later on that night - or the weekend - he has a smaller gathering of friends that involves renting out a floor in a hotel, having all sorts of games and events and serving a lot of food.

He is also going to receive a not-yet-released-to-the-States video game that he will invite people over to his apartment to play - and this game is going to have a ridiculous name and be something kinda like the Final Fantasy Verus type of a game.

Outside of those two fun things, he is going to start looking into finding a more discrete kind of space for people who are visibly changing or need to adjust to their new powers without catching attention of anyone that might be against them.

I'm keeping Tamara out of the plot for this time around since she has a lot of echoes, but probably will do something with the festival. It looks like she may do something with Colette there and definitely want to see if we can con her into the maid outfit for helping out with it.

That and next weekend is her 20th birthday and her parents will come to visit. She hasn't exactly told anyone except Sasame about it because she hates being the center of attention.

She's also going to be borrowing one of those robot drones from Chris to scout the mine. If anyone else who is volunteering for that wants to get with her, that's cool as well. She'd definitely be able to help with video editing so they can easily share any potential clues about the gem's location with others.

no mystery plot for this kiddo since he has a bunch of echoes and i'm running out of useless stuff to conjure up. if anyone wants to traipse about the city and run into vermini with him though i'd love to do that!

as for other things -- he's probably had enough fun to last a lifetime after the mine fiasco, so he's been laying low and just doing his thing at the library for the last week or so + fussing over people who got really hurt because fussiness is ingrained in his psyche. so it's slice of life in the meantime! he'll probably be going to the summer festival, though i'm undecided on when and what he'll be doing except WHO WANTS TO PAINT WAR THAT SHOULD HAPPEN.

as an aside i was thinking we could do a beach post to round out the summery shenanigans later on in july, maybe. i mentioned it to a few people on the CR post, but to cut down on redundancy with the LCU festivities we could focus more on the sandcastle wars/paragliding/pier jumping (do not try at home)/bonfires/kenji running around as a seaweed monster and needing to be fended off with umbrellas type stuff.

he'll also have an undecided birthday in july because fuck yeah, cancers.

Bakura will be returning to Locke City likely Wednesday or Thursday and will have a round of apologies to make (mostly to Anthony, sorry dude) and will be in a mild funk because his plan didn't work. That and he will have realized that the only reason he's actually making friends is because of the echoes thing and he's not sure how that makes him feel.


Siegfried needs to be dragged into things somehow. He's been mostly just kinda... watching the network and not really reacting to things. Anyone who wants to do artsy stuff with him, lemme know!


Also, come about Wednesday I should be back to normal tagging speed again and will tackle the backtag pile.

I signed Selene up for the mystery event to kickstart her getting involved but if she gets chosen (or even if she doesn't!) I definitely would like to have her interact and plot with some of you guys. She's mostly going to be wandering around town since she's new to it and is still getting used to living there and also keeping an eye on the network because it sort of fascinates her. I'll probably be putting up a post and tagging out a lot more after I've finished spending time with my parents today, so if anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to jump in and play with you!

Also I definitely want her to interact with the Vermini at some point and I'm hoping to have her slowly start regaining her mind reading through Echoes so if anyone wants to be around when that happens so she can respond to what they're thinking and what they're saying that would be fun.

Octavia is currently poking her nose into everything and being really sodding obnoxious. She's also concentrating on how cool the whole situation is and how super-speshul she must be to be a part of it. Depending on what happens with ~*mystery plot*~ and the likes, things might start to get more "real" for her!

Kinda want to get Vaati/Victor involved with the Vermini a bit since whoa, corrupting animals/other things into monsters! Canon parallels!!! Maybe he'll get that power back and freak the fuck out and hide it forever, who knows. Right now I'm just kinda throwing him at everything so vagueplans are vague, figuring it out as I go.

oh yeah and he's kinda semi-offering people clothing modifications for weird body parts/powers/whatever that make shit awkward, so if anyone else wants in on that lemme know. He wants to be helpful this is basically all he knows he can do whoops.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: JACK/SLICK. As some of you may have noticed he is still not on the network but is totally still around in logs and shit, mostly through Karson. I intend to keep him unaware of the network for as long as I can because I'm a rebel and there's no way he'd even take that shit seriously for long enough to learn anything. This makes it a little hard to interact with people, though, so hey if anyone wants to run into him in person they are VERY MUCH WELCOME. When not working (which is usually) he can be found at bars, mostly, or buying tiny licorice dogs in bulk. Or yelling at his kid... maybe someone could live near them and finally realize where all the noise comes from on the block.

And if anyone can figure out he's actually involved with this and tell him shit so I don't have to make a boring networkintro eventually, that'd be the best, I would love you. Excellent CR opportunities.

Sarah's birthday, by the magic of "let's put a date in the slot", is July 1. If your character could plausibly know this - probably by having some association with her* and/or her school records - and wanted to throw a party, I would be all in favor of this! She would not, so much, but it might be able to give her an Echo anyway, so. Really-truly; her canon being My Little Pony, there are a few parties that are something of a big deal. They tend to be big parties, though, so to maximize the chance of Echo, we should get lots of people to come.

*I wouldn't put it past attentive classmates to know, for instance, even if she probably hasn't actively shared the information in a while.

Alright, I think I've got this under the proper header.

Probably gonna have Ciel sit out the Mysterious Things dealie. At first I wanted to sign him up; get his feet wet and push him out of his comfort zone. But I've got a vacation convention(Anime Expo) at the start of July and then I have to work at Comic Con International. So I'd be out of action during both those points and I'd hate to slow things down.

What I would like to do is have him wander around more. He's yet to get any kind of hinting that anyone's been getting memories or anything from their past lives. Ideally I'd want to push him into things that would remind Ciel that he's Roxas; sea salt ice cream with friends, get into a fight and pick up a pair of sword-like objects(pipes, a broom broken in half or something along those lines) to fight with, find some seashells or something like that. Just stuff to help him touch off an echo or two. I'm willing to brain storm up other ideas.

Main kicker is that I'll be kinda slow to tag during the two conventions, but otherwise should manage at least a post or two per day.

Also, I need to stop being lazy and renew my account this pay.

All right, Emery will have been helping with the mine fiasco fallout in whatever way he can - I know Aeron-mun mentioned something about having some of the injured folks over at their place? Which can be worked out or not worked out as necessary. I've signed Em up for the mystery events and will be looking for more Echo-inducing game involvement from here on, so! That could be fun. He may go for a poke around the mine site (since he's getting more reckless with his life as more people he knows get hurt), but. We'll see.

Horrible stuff aside, Em will be getting super involved with the festivals! If there's a kind of "Green Fest" thing, especially, he'll be all up in that; he might even suggest that a few people get together to set up stalls and whatnot to raise money for charity. If anyone fancies that sort of thing then give me a nudge here! Arts and crafts - anything to totally mess up Aeron's flat / life / priorities.
