Joysweeper, come bearing everybirdie's favorite flirtatious spy pigeon, Sakazaki Yuuya! Of course he doesn't look like a pigeon now. Just you wait. He's not going to be happy at all.

He's known as Julien Sakazaki here, because fandom dub names. Lived in the city for a couple years, moved away about seven years ago, moved back almost a year ago after graduating college. He's exceedingly social, even if most of his friends are little more than "acquaintance" level. Maybe he knows your character! Info post is here.

Julien might know Lyall, if he was teaching high school several years back. Though if so I'd say it wasn't Julien's class specifically, the guy is one of those obnoxious people who always seems to remember names and faces. I hate them in real life. "Hey, Joysweeper!" and I have no idea who this is.

He's been teaching for a little under 10 years, and you said Julien has been gone for only seven, right? So it's entirely possible! :) Lyall may need some help to jog his memory from someone gone for THAT long, but he'd figure it out eventually ^^

Aaaah, don't be too guilty. I think Kerowyn is her best character!

I don't care for much of her later-written stuff, and sure even earlier it's mind candy, but some of it's good mind candy. There are too few books with main-role heroic women who aren't all about getting with a guy.

Ahhh same actually! Her later written stuff is a little... well, let's just say I don't really like to remember the time I spent reading the Collegium Chronicles. And yes, exactly! One of the main reasons I loved By the Sword, Kerowyn was so kickass.

I feel like she's often better when there are coauthors. Except If I Pay Thee Not In Gold. Even though I really liked her first trilogy with James Mallory, I haven't read the second. Probably ought to get on that.

Yeah I noticed the ones I tend to like best are the ones where she has coauthors on! There are exceptions but if she's left alone I feel like she tends to like... rehash stuff a lot and run around in circles with the plot. And all the characters end up severely depressed somehow. In the Collegium Chronicles she actually writes out the main character's thick accent and it's... unfortunate...

Like he pronounces "foreigner" as "furrigner" and she actually spells it out as "furrigner" and I'm just, ML no 8(

Yeah... There's a lot of tell-don't-show, too, and I feel like a lot of the characters are basically the same.

Okay so when I was sitting down to read the app I was like 'will this be the first crack character' and then I was blown away.

It's the great secret of the pigeon dating sim! Come for the absurd premise, stay for the layered characters and the treatments of loss, guilt, love, revenge, death, and so much more.

Dating pigeons is nothing but suffering and madness, and I would have it no other way.
