Plot post for July 30!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently;
• The Vermini swarms have disappeared for the most part, and there's no sign of Vermedi either. Some characters may glimpse hairy figures in dark alleys or in sewers, but the creatures always disappear as soon as they are spotted.

• There are an unusual amount of police patrols out and about in the city. Any suspicious activity will be noticed, though there are no immediate IC consequences.

• We also have two super secret event opportunities that have not been claimed. Two commenters to the thread below will be randomly selected for this plot.

Events occurring in the immediate future;
• Beginning Friday, August 2, there will be something in the water. Drinking any tap water will result in occasional, uncontrollable fits of laughter, along with re-experiencing previous Echoes, especially memory Echoes. One Echo per 8oz glass of water, and the beginning of its effects can be delayed for up to an hour. Within six hours it'll be out of the character's system completely.

• If PCs wish to investigate Thunder Corp this week, comment to the thread below with a general idea of how you plan to get in and what you plan to do once you're there. Details will be forthcoming on a case-by-case basis.

Potential Echo Opportunities:
• Drinking the tainted water will grant one new Echo (and only one, no matter how much water is drunk) in addition to any re-experienced ones. Uncovering any secret information about Thunder Corp will also grant an Echo. Canon parallels are a constant.

Alan will be drinking the water and getting an Echo of Eren being a horrible murder child, so. He'll be worrying about his sanity quite a bit more. Also he will be so annoyed by getting hit by gigglevenom again.

Regina thinks tap water is gross, so she won't be getting involved in any giggling fits. Sorry.

However, I do want her to get involved in any Thunder Corp investigating shenanigans since A) I'd like for her to do some infiltration and work together with the others involved in it and B) she might get to dress up just in case, which means there is a potential echo for her! ... Of her preincarnation's involvement as a terrorist. Oops? It's not really set in stone and I might change it just in case, but here's a heads up. She can act the part and gather info, so yeah, she'd be helpful if anyone wants to work with her. Regina can't do this alone. :|

Aside from what I said above, she could definitely use sparring partners/gun-toting freaks like herself so if anyone's up for that, do let me know!

John will definitely be drinking the water and breaking down into a giggle fit at some point. He'll probably be getting a memory echo from it, but I haven't quite figured out what yet. That said, it's probably going to be something that supports his growing (but incorrect) belief that he's turning into one of the black-eyed children.

Other than that, I'm... pretty much up for any CR stuff! Sadly, I don't think John is interested enough to go poke around Thunder Corp just yet.

Ax/Alex will totally drink the water, but I have to pick an Echo. Probably something less angsty than his last one. Or not, because I'm mean. I'd totally be up for someone to be around when he gets the giggles or relives an Echo or gets the new one.

Otherwise, he'll be spending the rest of his summer vacation trying to be less hopeless as a fighter when he's entirely human, and probably looking for someone willing to train with him when the tail's in play, because he's pretty sure that's the best weapon he's going to have.

Mikasa is going to drink the water and remember some horrible childhood trauma. (She's also probably going to finally get properly introed tomorrow because I neither work nor have to build things to bring into work. I've been slow. Mea culpa. /o\ )

I...do plan for Hajime to drink the water and get something out of it but I haven't decided what. I may be moving his bloodlust up my priority list, since the circumstances I was originally holding off for have changed, but I'm not sure. I feel like I've been kind of floating in "what do" land with him for a while, since his close CR has checked out. If anybody wants any kind of Things I'd love to talk about it, since maybe giving him stuff to do will help me get his groove back.

Emmanuel will be getting his first memory Echo, which won't be groundbreaking so much as a little confusing. Other than that...bursting into laughter during Mass? UHHHH.

I'm up for anything! Mamoru is running self-defense classes at the church, so people can run into Emmanuel there. He also might offer to join any expeditions since he's got some crazy knife skills, as unsettling as it is.

How about talking religious viewpoints with someone who is primarily into other things and trying to understand this whole Christian stuff people toss at him. He still thinks that Santa has a lot to do with religion despite knowing people who talk about Jesus.

I think Shou will have to skip breaking into the Thunder HQ since he hasn't any clue how to do that besides walking in and asking to speak to someone while waving files around. He could make a good diversion if he does that.

As for the water plot, Shou will probably laugh a lot listen to the link, isn't that laugh just silly?. And then his accent will go from the Okinawa dialect to the street-ready Mallepa accent of a young gangster type. There will be hints of his regular accent but for anyone that knows the differences in Japanese dialects will really wonder since Mallepa is a city that mixes Chinese and Japanese and Taiwanese together in one big pot of wut.

Also his re-echo will be one about his agility, which might mean him wanting to test just how much he can do. I am also hoping that the book cover modeling will grant him another echo in the form of an old group photo of him and a bunch of strangers.

Otherwise, he's free for any plots that you may want to throw at him!

So! Caroline's brand new to the numbers club! And aside from doing some competitor profiling, she's also very interested in how the club works.

1. Club members can perceive the network.
2. Club members can perceive each other using it, evidenced by dual video logs.
3. Normal people cannot.
4. Normal people cannot even perceive club members using it.

So (probably gonna suggest this in her first post) she wants to conduct an experiment.

Make an audio/video recording of someone making a voice/video post, or listening to a voice/video post.
Make a control tape of them sitting in a room in silence.
Optional, but ideally: Do this test twice, using both digital and analog methods of recording.

Have club members view the tapes, and, if possible, normal people (come up with some excuse, idk).

Can either of these groups tell a difference between the tapes?

1. Who's up for helping run this experiment and participating in it? The person being recorded, getting together recording equipment, viewing the tapes, all that stuff.

Morgan's going to drink the tainted water and have an Echo about being, well. Being crushed by water pressure and possibly doing a less comical spittake. It'll all probably be jittery and out of control in her head, but she'll only get the memory of it without knowing the clear context of why.

In this case, she might forego investigating the Thunder Corp in the meantime. Bad memory is bad.

This'll definitely be Bertholdt's first in-game memory haha... But he'll be drinking the water probably! Unsure about the memory right now, but it'll probably include Reiner considering there isn't a panel in the entire series where he's not with baby bara. It's like they ship themselves.

Kotetsu's definitely drinking the water /o/ He'll re-experience his first echo about Heroes and companies and buyouts and be confused and troubled about it all over again v.v I think the echo he'll get from it is a scene where someone was trying to give him drugged tea (he didn't realize it was drugged at the time though) and things kept getting in the way of him drinking it.

ALSO the crapsuit will ride again, if anyone wants to be there to watch it reappear on his body and laugh at him for reasons unrelated to tainted water :X

He's a cop too, and pretty open about it on the network, sooo yeah if anyone wants to do anything with that or help getting out of ~~~SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR~~~ trouble with other cops???

Definitely going to have Tamara end up drinking some of the water. If it gets approved, I'm going to have her regain her demon familiars which are basically demonic purple butterflies that look perfectly normal unless someone messes with them and then they do try and attack. While she'll only have the ability to have one around at first, there's definitely some potential for shenanigans and maybe even echoes if someone happens to run into one and it attacks. Or even to be mistaken for yet another random monster being sent after them.

As far as Hugo, not so sure what I'll be doing with him since I'm not wanting him to end up drinking the tap water. But since someone else mentioned it, he does live alone and in a decent sized house and anyone who needs a place to stay could also stay with him as long as they have no issue with his odd hours and the fact that one may find some strange things in his place since he brings his work home with him and runs an adult clothing store.

I'm not entirely sure about having Shuji participate in the new event. As of right now, he's probably not going to be taking part. With the police presence picking up, Shuji is keeping his pseudo-loyalty to the force and will be looking for suspicious activity. If someone is especially loyal to him, he won't report anything. Hajime, Alata, and Shou are the primary ones that he'll let get away with quite a bit. Otherwise... we'll see what happens.

I've been particularly slow lately because of trying to juggle real life stuff and have been backtagging, but I'm up for Shuji meeting some of the new people as long as you don't mind working on it for a bit. (Though I will backtag for a long time and wrap it up if need be.)

For the OOO cast: I am more than happy to keep up this thing of Shuji thinking he's the reincarnated King and will have this go on as long as I can. If any of you want to talk out details/plotting with me, I'm always signed on to AIM whenever I'm available to talk.

Laaaaaate but Hikari and her judgemental ways extend even to tap water so she'll be missing out on this particular event! Which is probably good since the only memory she has to relieve is technically her eyes since I've been lazy and haven't submitted any Echo requests yet haha oops.

Besides that I don't really have much planned for her beyond continuous network harassment as is her hobby. During Mystery Event (which we're working on logging still I swear) she got attacked by the bird that was in the museum while walking through the park, so anyone who saw that is welcome to try and contact her about it? Or something idk.

She probably won't be investigating Thunder Corp. as she likely hasn't even heard of it in regards to the Numbers Club yet and she's way too paranoid to let the other network-goers know what she looks like.

So if ever Al gets dragged into the mystery plot, that'll happen. If not, he'll be drinking the water instead. Because I have a few memory echo ideas in mind, and I want them to happen. :D

All of mine will be drinking the water- sadly none of them have ways to get into Thunder Corp. Sad.

Phillip will be making a post within the next week or so inviting the network to his play!! He's a 'Lost Kid' in the community theater production of... a Peter Pan expy. Other than that I don't have much planned for him yet.

Neku is still doing his mildy-rebel thing, and is now OFFICIALLY tagging/MAKING ART on random buildings. If anyone wants to see them or catch him in the act, that's fine by me! Don't have too much else planned for him yet either.

Kairi is currently working out with her self-defense/fencing stuff and trying to see how it might be useful in fighting monsters. She's also beginning to prep for the start of the football/cheerleading season and school.

Isaac and Miria Dian are definitely drinking the water. I haven't decided what they'll receive yet, but there's an idea I've wanted to run with eventually. Avoiding as much spoiler as possible, but at some point in Baccano, Isaac comes to the conclusion he and Miria are being reincarnated. Can you imagine the hijinks that would ensue if the duo thought he was right. It's entirely possible that's way further down the road, but it's what I've been thinking about.

Meanwhile, they'll try to help out everyone as much as possible. I'd like to show more of the antiques store in general, maybe get them to hide things there for the network. Otherwise, no real plans in mind.

Idk what he may or may not get involved in however he will be among those cops patrolling, though in casual wear, so if anyone wants to run into him that way. Also down the line, I think it means he can smell which police officers are weird, so that might eventually help Nick to stop being so loyal to the police and slide over to the Numbers Club.

SO Teresa is drinking the water (of course); if the request goes through, she'll be echoing back her sharp troll teeth. This will do nothing to disprove her assertion that she is actually a dragon.

LATER she will be asking people if they want to take part in a LARP session sometime over one of the weekends. The pseudo-battle conditions and fantasy setting could lead to Echoes for some characters if you want to go in that direction. Otherwise, it could be a fun opportunity for some characters to meet up in person and be huge dorks.

ALSO Karson, Kanti, and Teresa will later be dumb teenagers and indulge in some *~*underage drinking*~* and wake up the next morning in a trashed location with absolutely no memory of what happened the night before. In other words, they will effectively be performing their own rendition of The Hangover.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

What it means is that we'd like to get more people involved in this! What kind of drunken shenanigans did these three dorks get up to with your character? How would your character react to them coming back and trying to piece together what happened that night? Let's hash things out!

Anyway, Kanti's obviously gonna be drinking the water and since she's yet to get any sort of echo but a memory echo, I'm opting for a physical one. It's patches of glowing skin on her knees and elbows (if it gets approved) or something else (if it doesn't). She will be the best nightlite she can be. Life goals right there.

There's also Fangover Shenanigans that will be taking place eventualllllly, but Liana's got shit set up in her post for that so I will see you there or here or whichever you prefer.

Otherwise, Kanti can be found in the park, at her job in Starbucks, or skulking around places looking for weird shit that just straight up vanished what is even up with that??? So if you wanna hit her up, there's opportunities in a general sense, and getting me to participate in something I've missed is literally as easy as sending me an AIM and going 'get in this log fucktruck'
