Plot Post for September 17th!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that I will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently;

• As of mid-September, the Locke City water supply is clean! It’ll read as back to its previous normal by any analysis or enhanced senses, and no more several-hour giggle fits after consumption. This means as well that drinking tap water will no longer induce Echoes.

• Public unease and scrutiny of Thunder Corp. is high with the rumors leaked to the media having hit mainstream awareness, as result of the operation headed by Riku Nakatsuki ([personal profile] depolarized) and Nick Burkhardt ([personal profile] detectivetroll). Thunder Corp., of course, are persistently denying everything - while those with connections in the company may also hear that they plan to get to the bottom of just who could be trying to sabotage their reputation.

Events occurring in the immediate future;

• Thunder Corp. will be holding a press conference to address the allegations of environmental irresponsibility by the company - in short, they deny everything. The information is fudged, the images are fake, and they have no idea who is responsible or what provoked them.

• On the evening of September 21st, the pink lights in the sky will appear again - accompanied by - what d’you know! - a low buzzing sound in the heads of PCs who see it, very much like that sensed by those who ventured into the lower regions of the mines on the trip organized by Kanti Singh ([personal profile] vetala). Look away from the lights and the sound will fade to nothing. The lights will not appear the next day.

The buzzing, however, isn’t going anywhere - in fact, it’s still there without looking at the lights, much too faint to be detected without actively focusing, and will intensify over the rest of September and into October. The intensity also depends on the listener’s location - the buzzing grows louder and stronger as you approach Tuning Towers (see the Locations post). Once you arrive at the Towers themselves, in addition to the buzzing you’re likely to sense tremors in the ground below you - which isn’t actually shaking, or otherwise eliciting a reaction from the non-numbered around.

• By next week, there will be periodic and brief cases of civilians within small public areas (coffee shops, mall stores, parks, etc.) going simultaneously... out of it. Catch a non-Numbers Club acquaintance in conversation when they’re hit and they’ll suddenly go much more relaxed, zoned-out, and docile. Take the chance while you can to get a loan - it’ll only last about five minutes before they rise back up to their senses.

Depending on the company you keep, however, you might notice that whatever phenomenon is acting up when it does will have little to no effect on those who steer clear of tap water.

Events potentially occurring;

• The police have been on their guard and taking their notes since late July, and Thunder Corp. don’t intend to let the drawing of suspicion to them pass. PCs will be at risk of investigation and/or arrest in the near future.

Potential Echo Opportunities:

• Witnessing the lights in the sky will - as it has in the past - grant one Echo. In the days afterward until further notice otherwise, picking up on and following the buzzing sound to their strongest point - right at Tuning Towers - will grant an additional Echo.
• Following the appearance of the lights on September 21st, some reincarnates may find that their Echoes are getting... stronger. OOCly, we're now allowing Tier 2 Echoes, as reflected on the Echoes request page- essentially two (connected) Echoes in one, once a month per character.

Nick is getting way more involved in the network than he originally planned, so now that the water plot is resolved, he may be withdrawing a little from it! Well, unless something happens that affects him personally, or one of his friends. Or kids. So that might not end up working so well for him, but we'll see!

He promised John that he'd have a BBQ when the water thing ended, so now that's going to be a thing that happens! It'll be in Monroe's backyard and likely co-hosted with Ryan, so a giant log may or may not be going up for that.

Nick's also having a giant inner turmoil involving the police and the network, but for the moment he's still defaulting towards loyalty towards the police, except when his friends are involved.

ECHOES I think I'm going to try to get him back his Grimm blood. Which means anyone that ingests it somehow may revert back to being human temporarily, losing any echo powers. idk I'll have to work the exact specifics out with the mods, but it's a possibility!

and I want more CR. friends, negative CR, more stuff with people I have CR with, all of it. gimme.

Grimm blood: for when you absolutely, positively, must make someone normal no matter what.

I'm EXCITED FOR NICK'S STUFF augh i'm sorry they never went out for that drink with things getting so hectic for me!! if you still wanna do it we totally should.

YUP as long as you don't mind the traumatic white misty soul-ripping-thing that happens. XD

I'M EXCITED TOO and I'm totally still up for it! Things have been pretty hectic for me too, so no worries! <3

Absolutely! We need to have him figure out that Xander's in town!

Well, his two posts have been audio on the network. Then again, we could always have them bump in to each other on the street or some where public?

[personal profile] detectivetroll 2013-09-19 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
True! He's been a little distracted with the water stuff lately, and now is withdrawing from the network a little, but we can definitely have them bump into each other!
dominateartimus: (Strained smile)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2013-09-19 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Understandable. It'll be so awkward between them when that happens.

ffff yeah Nick is pretty much going to be deer-in-headlights for a while and contemplate how much of a jerk he'd be if he just pretended he got a call about a murder or something.

okay probably not the last part seriously, but it might go through his mind
dominateartimus: (Neither angel or demon)

To be honest, I don't think Xander wouldn't be surprised if that did happen. Since he would be rather stunned before stressing out internally, aside from being partially mad.

Sadly, fleeing is sort of Nick's MO in these situations. One day he'll be better about it!
dominateartimus: (The price you pay)

Indeed and Xander will only get worse if he starts getting San's personality back.

Oh wow, that is a SUPER useful power. Perfect for those outings in the city WHEN YOU JUST CAN'T HIDE YOUR CREEPY

Oh man I didn't even think of that, but it is! In his canon, it seems to be permanent, but I figured I'd have him only partially get the ability back to give players the chance to play with it temporarily.

super cool. Maybe one of the sciencey types could distill it into a temporary reverter

Nick is so not okay with anyone using his blood to try to make weird echo antidotes but I kind of love this idea.
