Plot Post for October 23rd!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that we will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit, they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently:

• As of this morning (October 23rd, between the hours of 3:00-4:00 A.M., a large portion of the Thunder Corp.-owned Dead District has been bombed. Any living or working late in the run-down part of town or, alternatively, possessed of supernatural hearing may have been disturbed by the noise - though they’d not have been harmed by default; inhabited areas and locations such as the LSR Clinic are not within the area affected and, by now, no casualties have been reported. Entire blocks of buildings have, however, been effectively brought to the ground - and no evidence of parties involved or responsible has, as it appears, been found.


• Any snake statues left standing until today are now no longer anywhere to be found in the Dead District.

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• Thunder Corp. deny any knowledge as to the motivation or perpetrators of the bombing as they’d done in response to the rumors against them in September - officials are, however, beginning to voice suspicions to the media "putting two and two together" culminating in announcement in a formal press conference at soonest possible convenience. In line with and supporting their statements, the police department will be investing time and effort in the investigation, identification, and any necessary subsequent incarceration of “eco-terrorists” at work in Locke City.

And you can imagine what this means for you, our reincarnated heroes!

Police presence will now be increasing in all public places - in the form of increased patrols and watch over not only business and industrial areas but such populous everyday locations as Locke City High School and LCU, claimed to be in concurrent increase in drug investigations begun in August, although mercifully enough those with dogs will be few and far between.


• ...Or they will be on all days forecastable except for October 31st - Halloween. It’s a night that invites mischief and with what mischief appears to be afoot in the city nowadays, the police department will apparently see fit to keep watch over most areas in which citizen traffic is expected - shadowing residential and recreational areas as the sun goes down, with not bulbous-snouted beagles but some very ornery-looking red-eyed German Shepherds. Hopefully you’ve arranged such plans as to avoid a Halloween with hellhounds!

Events potentially occurring in the immediate future:

• Under pretense and/or motivation of current eco-terrorism and drug scares, from here on out until any further notice, depending on past actions, reincarnates will be at risk of active approach by unfriendly or dubiously-desirable parties - police and potentially otherwise.

Players of characters at the HIGHEST RISK of confrontation, investigation, or similar trouble are marked down to be contacted via surprise PM or Private Plurk within the near future to begin plotting accordingly.

Potential Echo Opportunities

Visits to Tuning Towers will, again, continue to grant Echoes indefinitely - for anyone willing to get that close to the police! Echo opportunities are also likely to present themselves in instances of trouble that characters may wind up in in the weeks to come.

Like with the previous environmental irresponsibility fiasco, super-duper uncomfortable in general, yep. It's entirely possible some people may be quitting their jobs for fear of their lives and such - obviously, these people are generally lower level; none of the presidents closer associates/partners seem that concerned when it comes down to their long-term actions, despite what they may say.

In any case? Most of the 'come into the office from 9-5' is offline for a while as things are sorted out, though security is increased. People like Ellie will be under strict orders to protect TC's offices and such and may be working with the police as well to ensure no more bombings will be taking place where there might be more people around, etc.

I meant to ask on the last plot post, but of course, hiatus. in terms of the "large groups of people spacing out" thing, if a normal person is outside the effect radius but sees it happen, will they notice anything wrong?

Yes... sort of. They'll think it's weird if it's pointed out to them but for now there really isn't any convincing the public in general that it isn't something like a publicity stunt or a flashmob or whatever.

What's the 'word on the street', so to speak? Especially in the Dead District or places where small gangs or troublemakers/delinquents would hang out. Mac would probably be tapping into past connections with delinquent/troublemaking characters, and would probably try to see how they've been feeling about all this.

Bombings... would that potentially be an echo for Tony if he happens to remotely witness or see the remnants of it? From Iron Man 3 and the human bombs/test subjects of AIM.

Also: if they investigated the ruins of dead man's after what would they encounter or be able to find?

If the police presence were approached in LCU, how would they react? I don't mean like "HEY GUYS WHAT YOU UP TO?" but in an idle, almost casual, I'm-a-teacher-making-conversation way. Or would that ping suspicion? Would they also be watching close enough to notice people noticing others spacing out?

Next Monday after school is the After School Numbers Club meetup. Would it be likely for those police and/or dogs to show up there, or will they be under the radar enough? And are any particular teachers being singled out at the school for special attention (such as Lyall or Richard, the two off the top of my head who are reincarnates) or is it a more general "everybody being watched" kind of thing?

I assume it wouldn't be possible until investigators left, but, you knew it was coming: going into the bombed areas, is there anything to see? Was it bombs that were set? How many? What kind of formation, was it to destroy the buildings themselves, how thorough? Is it possible to find the sites? Can the bombs used be identified by smell/finding little bits of them in the rubble?

...Yuuya knows the smell of explosives and has surveyed recently leveled buildings before.

If that's a yes and Alex was one of the paramedics there, what would that entail for him?

Tacking on an additional question: will news of the bombing spread nation-wide? (I'm wondering if Alex's family would hear about it.)

just making sure, the other post says something about schools and businesses being closed for a few days but this one doesn't? so are they closed and it just wasn't mentioned on this post?

also i know it says no casualties have been reported but this kid has his voices of the imminently deceased so IF there were any deaths he would have gotten voices from it so i'm just checking that there weren't any. so yes that is all!

A couple of semi-related questions! Are the officers in charge of investigating the bomb site and finding the culprits all involved in the conspiracy, or is there the possibility of ordinary police investigators that Nick could talk to? He'll try it anyway, but he's been friendly with most of the officers over the years and is a giant workaholic, so I don't think it'd be unusual for him to chat with the people looking into it, find out what they know and try to offer whatever he can in return, especially for something as high profile as this.

Is it at all known that the water contamination that was blamed on Thunder Corp is related to the drug the police have been on high alert for? I know the water contamination was being looked into by the police prior to the media coverage of it, but were they looking for something different or is it generally known that the two were connected?

What's the general buzz around the police station with this? There's usually talk and theories being thrown about, so I wanted to check if it'd be reasonable to assume that a lot of the officers have connected the Thunder Corp water contamination rumor (and possibly the drug connection, if that's well known) with the bombings and figure that someone is targeting Thunder Corp? Or, alternatively, that Thunder Corp is covering up something, but I thought the other option would be more likely encouraged by supervisors?

Springing off all of that, although this is more a question for the future, would it be possible for a numbers police officer to start "going undercover"? Siding 100% with superiors, looking the other way at the Sherman interrogations, dedicating a lot of time to trying to bring "eco-terrorists" to justice, bringing in network people, that kind of thing. With Nick's track record, it's not unusual that he'd completely dedicate himself to something like that, and he's thinking about trying to make it seem like he'd be a good candidate to let in on whatever's going on.

And finally! Is there anything not-human about the police officers who are handling the strange dogs?

...wow that got really long, I hope it's coherent.

So with these investigations/arrests, are the cops going to be following due process correctly, as in allowing phone call, giving the ability to confer with their lawyer, etc.?

1. Can Mordin make it into the crime scene, and if so, what could he discover?

2. How quickly did police arrive on the scene? Mordin would probably have been awake at the time, and would have seen something like that. If he could, he'd have gotten in himself to make sure no one is injured. Could he pull that off? (this ties into 1, I suppose)

If so, what would happen if Bakura started saying things like "Thunder Corp can't be trusted" and "I bet Thunder Corp is just covering up their own screw up in the Dead Distric with that explosion" around people who were zoned out? Sort of an attempt to start a whisper campaign~

Super-late question and I'm posting with the wrong account, but Arthur's going to be having silverfish check out the area. They're silverfish, so they're not too bright, and they're probably more interested in eating glue than anything else. They're going to be focusing on underground things and the area around the Dead District. Would these silverfish have any chance of actually finding out anything useful?

Can I have permission for Alex to tell his parents what's going on with him--specifically to show them how much he's changed physically thus far (which I'm thinking will be necessary to get them to believe him)? Is there anything I should know about that - anything in the setting itself that will keep them from being able to observe or believe anything, or certain things?

So, Alex is going to suggest that Bakura send Diabound underground in the Dead District to see what lies underneath. Will he find anything?
