Plot Post for October 23rd!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that we will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit, they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently:

• As of this morning (October 23rd, between the hours of 3:00-4:00 A.M., a large portion of the Thunder Corp.-owned Dead District has been bombed. Any living or working late in the run-down part of town or, alternatively, possessed of supernatural hearing may have been disturbed by the noise - though they’d not have been harmed by default; inhabited areas and locations such as the LSR Clinic are not within the area affected and, by now, no casualties have been reported. Entire blocks of buildings have, however, been effectively brought to the ground - and no evidence of parties involved or responsible has, as it appears, been found.


• Any snake statues left standing until today are now no longer anywhere to be found in the Dead District.

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• Thunder Corp. deny any knowledge as to the motivation or perpetrators of the bombing as they’d done in response to the rumors against them in September - officials are, however, beginning to voice suspicions to the media "putting two and two together" culminating in announcement in a formal press conference at soonest possible convenience. In line with and supporting their statements, the police department will be investing time and effort in the investigation, identification, and any necessary subsequent incarceration of “eco-terrorists” at work in Locke City.

And you can imagine what this means for you, our reincarnated heroes!

Police presence will now be increasing in all public places - in the form of increased patrols and watch over not only business and industrial areas but such populous everyday locations as Locke City High School and LCU, claimed to be in concurrent increase in drug investigations begun in August, although mercifully enough those with dogs will be few and far between.


• ...Or they will be on all days forecastable except for October 31st - Halloween. It’s a night that invites mischief and with what mischief appears to be afoot in the city nowadays, the police department will apparently see fit to keep watch over most areas in which citizen traffic is expected - shadowing residential and recreational areas as the sun goes down, with not bulbous-snouted beagles but some very ornery-looking red-eyed German Shepherds. Hopefully you’ve arranged such plans as to avoid a Halloween with hellhounds!

Events potentially occurring in the immediate future:

• Under pretense and/or motivation of current eco-terrorism and drug scares, from here on out until any further notice, depending on past actions, reincarnates will be at risk of active approach by unfriendly or dubiously-desirable parties - police and potentially otherwise.

Players of characters at the HIGHEST RISK of confrontation, investigation, or similar trouble are marked down to be contacted via surprise PM or Private Plurk within the near future to begin plotting accordingly.

Potential Echo Opportunities

Visits to Tuning Towers will, again, continue to grant Echoes indefinitely - for anyone willing to get that close to the police! Echo opportunities are also likely to present themselves in instances of trouble that characters may wind up in in the weeks to come.

Since police are going to be hanging around campus, does anyone at LCU- teachers and some students, want to hash something out? Bruce would probably just make idle conversation with them in a very fidgety way, but still I can't see the increased presence of the cops in the Uni without having some kind of big discussion.

Richard/Karl would not be in school the next two days following the attack and anyone he teaches on the side would get a text that he'll be unavailable the whole week. When he does show up at school, he'll probably be pretty exhausted looking. Anyone who might want to go by the Dead District either early in the morning or in the afternoon may see Mr. Locke chatting, rather casually, with some officers there.

Welp John really hopes none of the number club members or whatever did this thing. He'd be utterly furious because, holy shit, people, why would you ever think that was a good idea?

He'll... actually seriously consider finding out who did it? Because it's not okay. But then he also wouldn't want to cast suspicion on himself by being all nosy and. Stuff. But it. Could be a thing?? /squints

Well. Winter's going to be having a field day; between minor outrage that the police are in HER school and the fact that she is what they're looking for, she's going to be in a bad mood for a little while. Winter is going to be the would-be whistleblower watching for anything untoward to happen originating from the cops and bringing concerns to the school's administration. (I expect she won't find anything.) This, in turn, will cause her to sulk even more when engaged on almost any topic.

Well, except for the fact that she's a magical girl again, which to her is awesome. Anyone openly discussing concepts related to magical girls, including popular canons and tropes, is likely to find Winter spooking around and trying to catch information... and just maybe attempting to participate.

Aside from that, not much new with Winter, except that when she's around people she trusts (and after she's done venting), she'll be visibly happier, stuttering less, and more open and adventurous. Her helplessness was affecting more than she let on.

He's also wondering if Thunder corp did this either by accident or on purpose to gain more leverage. Any one know any conspiracy nuts he can get a bug in the ear of to send them at Thunder? :D

While Doyle here is finally believing you guys about the whole network-and-conspiracy thing - he's been a little cautious about sticking his nose into potentially dangerous situations. Also screw getting arrested, if the police are apparently looking for them.

HOWEVER, with the bomb thing having happened, I think he might drop by the Dead District to check it out, under the assumption he won't be the only civilian rubbernecking the clean-up attempts. Hey, when things go wrong, people gather to watch! It's human nature or something.

... Well, in any case, he'll be wandering down the Dead District and i might attempt to make an open log about that at some point in time if you want to run into him at all gosh this is a busy week

Let's just do down the list, shall we?

Marisa is initially freaked out about this whole mess. But it's not in her nature to stay scared for long, and she'll probably be poking her nose into things in short order.

Sam will be surrounded by lots of nervous people, which is slowly charging his magic batteries. If enough frightened people get into one place, it would be enough to trigger an echo for him, probably getting back the ability to use magic to increase his strength. This would, of course, result in him suddenly doubling in muscle mass and hulking out of his shirt.

Angela will be pulling extra shifts, what with all this police presence, and will accordingly be tired and irritable. She's also still exploring what this whole numbers network is, and trying to work out what it means in terms of her loyalty to the police.

Arthur's probably just going to be sticking to his usual routine and away from the Dead District...also if anyone wants to try helping him out as far as keeping a low profile goes, that might be good. XD He's also all too excited for Halloween and will be going as Neptune!

Hajime's going to be considering going back to make sure the snakes are gone, but if he thinks there's any sort of police presence in Japantown near the restaurant, good luck getting him to leave that area.

Mort's probably going to be swamped with work in case anyone needs a counselor after the bombings, and he may use that as an excuse to try investigating things a bit further.

Mordin will continue with business as usual, and will also try to get access to the crime scene. He's not going to try very hard to keep a low profile.

Roxy will probably start a pumpkin stand, in mostly unrelated news.

Toushirou has been involved in a fair number of Numbers shenanigans, but not much that would be too public. Though if Winter's magical girl transformation drew some attention, he might have been noticed to be in the area since he was around for that.

Once he notices increased police presence at the highschool, he'll probably shy away from the usual club meeting and probably argue that it's better not to have them now. Because that'll seem like they're just rounding themselves up for the enemy.

Not sure what I'm going to do with Halloween. Toushirou hadn't planned on going out for it this year because he is obviously way too mature for that nonsense. Though I would love for him to see those lovely red-eyed german shepherds. They'd just bring up wonderful memories of that first expedition into the Dead District, you know.

Neku is staying out of sight for Halloween, though. He's been more visible in general, and is also damn paranoid about all this, so he'll be laying low and being less of a rebel at school.

Reimu needs to get dragged into halloween shenanigans, even though she doesn't give a shit about the weird western holiday that's coming up. Also I was wanting to echo back an item, like (severely) powered down versions of her Yin Yang Orbs at the earliest opportunity.

I'm not really sure what else otherwise at the moment. XD;

As far as plot things goes, she might be drawn into investigating the dead district when things die down, maybe. >.> Obviously she has to do something.

LUKE IS GONNA GO TRICK OR TREATING HECK YES. But unless he manages to get a group to go with he will be going with his Grandfather escorting him because unattended ten year olds and Halloween in a big city do not make a good combination. I have no ideas for costumes for Link yet, but I will come up with something.

More big picture I would like Luke to start skipping school possibly to do things with numbers people. He'll be getting more echos soon first and foremost some memory ones that will make GOING OFF ON HIS OWN INTO THE UNKNOWN more familiar. What I am getting at here is that anyone willing to have an eager tag-along would be much appreciated. Oh and he's gonna get his elf ears soon too hopefully, so that will put him on the radar of More Noticeable which is a thing everyone wants.

Asuka will likely be dodging cops at LCU and attempting to rubberneck at the Dead District rebuilding sites. She doesn't really have anything to focus on yet other than not getting caught doing weird stuff.

Also she is a total killjoy and won't go trick-or-treating, so someone should either drag her out or throw a party she can crash (because now that I think about it, who would both throw a party and invite her?)

I've nothing particular fresh to say but that I'll crave Halloween nonsense with both Cinderella and Anthony whether benign or misadventurous.

Specifically 'twould appear that Cinderella might just, if nothing else, be inviting people over for the afternoon - though if a soiree in the yard'd be the only plan guests would need to pack up in a hurry, since her family would be out with kids to bring back before midnight!

I... am not sure if I have plans for this event or what, but. Yuji here still works as a detective and is free to air your grievances regarding the police force to. Or something. He's not exactly subtle about his job.

Harding / Ironhide is probably going to start demanding answers because goddammit you just don't blow up a city there might have been civilians in there.

thanks to alex and vanessa's nefarious hijinks banagher will be stuck with (what he thinks is) a phantom banana costume for halloween. which he won't wear of his own accord, no sir. (it was this or a unicorn kigurumi he got the better deal i think)

he's also been a big ball of nerves and barbwire lately and picking fights with people he likes for seemingly no reason other than to be contrary, but that's just some of his shounen protag-ness finally showing. he might benefit from some calmer company who he won't butt heads with as much.

chloe's offer of a place to stay far, far from the dead district is still on the table! she lives about 45 minutes outside locke and her parents are snowbirds so she has plenty of space to offer. she hired on killian as a stable hand and may possibly be looking for one more?

Ax/Alex is probably going to be Inspector #4 from Inspector Spacetime for Halloween, complete with insanely long scarf. His hair already looks right! :D

He's becoming much more Andalite-y, or will be, once I manage to get my Echo request done. He's also still grounded, but has a good excuse to be out and about, thanks to interning on the police force with Yuji and Nick.

Alex is definitely going to want to do what he can to investigate the bombings. He's in the "Thunder Corp totally did this themselves to destroy evidence" camp.

I'm pondering having his next form-changing Echo hit at an inconvenient time, either when he's with other people, or when it will get him in trouble, so plotting along those lines will be very welcome.

Luci, through some prompting from someone else, is going to start doing some digging for information. She's not much of a fighter, but depending on how things go, I may have her start to figure out that she can use her light magic to create some very simple illusions. She personally doesn't want to get her hands dirty if she can help it, but she may be convinced to use her abilities to help. It's all a matter of who asks and how.

Anyone up for some prying? She's no hacker by any rights, but is an ace when it comes to finding and compiling information. Let's get a network together.

Nick here has come up with a brilliant plan that is 100% foolproof and can in no way backfire at all: he's going to try to infiltrate the corrupt officers by making himself seem like someone who'd be a good candidate to be one of them, in the hopes that he'll be able to find out what they know and what they're up to. yeah it's probably going to end terribly

WHICH MEANS that even though he'd been starting to show obvious signs of siding with the network, he's now going to go completely in the opposite direction. He's going to try to remain anonymous on the network and help however he can, but he's going to withdraw a lot from it. He'll probably try to contact anyone who already knows he's a cop to warn them about it, especially people he's friends with.

It's highly likely that he'll be involved in the arrests of network members, either by being assigned to it or by catching someone who's being dumb and... being a jerk and bringing them in. Or if, by some miracle, someone wants to volunteer to be arrested, which he'd prefer but doubts would happen.

SO YES. Anyone who wants to get their character arrested interested in having Nick bring them in, either because Nick's a jackass or because they volunteered?
