Plot post for April 28th!

This format of plot post is designed for players to ask questions and find ways to influence the plot. Be bold and ask what you can or can't do; the worst that can happen is that we will say no. As plots in Save the Earth are not self resolving nor on a time limit they can evolve in many ways. Although some potential outcomes are given, they are little more than suggestion and can be changed by character action. What role you take is up to you.

The post is also open for players to plot and coordinate between one another.

Events occurring currently:

• Vermini are still crawling around within the Las Vegas Echo boundary. Non-reincarnates continue to fail to notice them. As with previous encounters, Vermini flee from reincarnates, and evaporate into steam when killed.

They appear to be attracted to bodies of water and large expansions of grass.

• Detective Derrick Strutz is still investigating the Mandalay Beach homicide case. A few people have been called in for questioning, but no official suspects have been found.

• In Locke City, the criminal trials for former Police Chief Simon Edward, former Detective Jason Sherman, and former corrupt police officers began April 22nd. They will all be found guilty for various crimes relating to their abuse of power and negligence, and shipped off to jail.

With hostility in the local police sector removed, it seems like reincarnates in Locke City can breathe a little easier. However, if one recalls, there were other parties involved in the deaths and arson of Paul Ben and his family...

Events occurring in the immediate future:

• On April 30th around 7:00pm, thirty minutes before the start of “O”, an aquatic Cirque du Soleil performance held at the Bellagio, performers will find a body floating on a raft made of lobsters and crabs strung together.

The victim is 20-year-old Angeline Strauss, one of several reincarnates who flocked to Las Vegas after Bonbright made a public offer to house them, free of charge, at the Marriott. She cameoed in several Vegas shows as an angel bass guitarist or an angel pole dancer. She was shot through the heart at an unknown location and then brought to the pool for the performers to discover. Two katana were found wedged in the cavity of the wound. Tied to one of the hilts was a written message that says: Don’t waste this gift.

Of great confusion is the fact that there were performers and employees in the general area when Strauss’ body was placed in the pool. No one appears to have witnessed the event. All personnel present at the theater will be taken in for questioning, but no definitive answers will be obtained.

Suffice to say, April 30th’s showing of “O” will be cancelled. The theater will be taped off for three days. Performances will start again on May 4th.

G-man, let us know if you’re still interested in having Mordin Solus work with Detective Strutz and your preferred method of contact.

• Something potentially familiar is about to happen with the Vermini. Between May 2nd and May 9th, characters in Las Vegas will have the opportunity to either notice an animal heavily infected by Vermini or a swarm of Vermini in their vicinity. If your character is in Las Vegas and you’re interested, please sign up under this thread by May 1st.

Sign ups are limited to 4 Vermini-infected animals and 4 Vermini swarms. Preference will be given to Las Vegas natives. We encourage threading the encounters with other Vegas-stationed characters.

• Either Vermini encounter will grant one plot Echo if the character has not yet encountered a Vermini in Las Vegas.
• As of April 28th, the alien broadcast no longer grants an Echo.
• Canon recurrences grant related Echoes!

What if someone is starting a religion about us?

I'm thinking about Angeline's murder, and the thought that comes to mind is a religious fanatic who thinks of the reincarnates as divine messiahs and wants us all to go around helping the poor or battling evil instead of just using our powers to have fun and make a quick buck. We appeared, seemingly out of no where, just when a disaster had befallen a major city and used fantastic powers to save the day. To the right kind of person (or possibly the wrong, depending on your point of view), it could be something of a shock to find your hero who saved your life with divine power went on to be a Las Vegas stripper.

Network Leak

So there's a new thing happening in the background of all this: someone is taking down ~Personal Information~ (names, occupations, physical descriptions) from anywhere on the public network and leaking them to the mafia.

If you'd like to Opt-Out of this, hit up this handy opt-out post! There'll be some kind of head's-up private plurk or PM if it looks like your character's about to get ratted on (just in case it's not a good time or you'd like it to not happen), but I'd appreciate knowing who's not available ahead of time in case I need to find a different name instead! That opt-out post could also be considered an opt-in post, btw. If you want your character's name to be out there, let me know!

For anyone curious and/or totally in for CR about this: Cesar's brother has been kidnapped by the mafia, and is being used as leverage against Cesar to get him to spy for them. I'm very open for plotting and ways to use this! School is hitting the fan for this particular week, and will be putting me under a sort of slowatus until the weekend, but that won't stop any plotting or planning on the side!

Kotetsu's throwing a small party to celebrate the conviction of the corrupt cops. There will be food and booze and nonalcoholic drinks for kids! Your characters are free to bring their own food and drinks too if they want!

And it'll be at about 5 pm EST so everyone can enjoy going home from a fun night to find out about Angeline's murder :')

Travel Plans?

Are you a Numbered who wants to go to Vegas to check out the murder and mayhem, but with no convenient means of getting there? Short notice airfare costs too much? Too daunting a task to drive?

Saretha Kaiser has a deal for you, and a family-owned private jet taking a trip cross country in a couple of weeks. Exact date pending, dependent on on if anyone else takes up the offer.

I've had one person inquire interest to this over Plurk, so a few notes:

This is a one-way deal. She's literally doing it to stir the pot and see what happens. She won't hold responsibility for getting you back.

She also takes no responsibility if YOU get into trouble, and if you're someone who makes a ruckus about causing any illegal activity there on the Network or in public prior, she's not letting you on in the first place.

She's not getting involved in all the zaniness in Vegas, for the most part - at least for now. She's only staying for a couple of days to drop people off and see what happens from afar. She has more important business to attend to in Locke City at the moment. In fact, if there's no bites/minds are changed, she won't be going at all for now.

You have to put up with Saretha's charming company for several hours in a metal tube hurtling across the sky with no way out.

Not a huge plane, so only a handful of people here.

She's charging nothing, but it's not totally out of the kindness of her own heart - though flushing out a murderer certainly works in everyone's interests, she's just trying to endear some level of good will towards her and to see what more Numbered might do out there.

tl;dr - Nothing actually that complicated, just a quick means of transitioning your character from one city to another if they ICly don't have an easy way to get there. Basically, an offer to bus a few folks over there.
