QUICK! A MINI-PLOT POST!!

With the trap sprung on those who went to meet the Sage in person, here is simply a post that you may use to work out further shenanigans with your fellow trapped-character-players. Fight! Get hurt! Receive Echoes! Figure out how to get out!

Note that characters do not have to be there in person to receive a plot-related Echo if they hear the Sage speak-- so long as someone inside the mines is broadcasting to the network somehow. People inside the mines may receive one Echo from meeting the Sage (plot-related), and one Echo from either interacting with some of the nasties that show up or some sort of canon recurrence. Likewise, people simply watching may receive an plot-Echo from hearing the Sage speak, and then maybe a recurrence Echo if something they see during the characters trying to get out happens to trigger them.

People inside mine: 2 plot-related Echoes OR 1 plot-related and 1 canon recurrence Echo possible.
People watching at home: 1 plot-related Echo and 1 canon recurrence Echo possible.

How do the vermedi hunt and/or catch people? Do they hunt by sight, smell, sound, some combination of the three, or something else entirely? Would someone invisible escape their notice, or would they be sense by some other means?

So, GETTING PEOPLE OUT OF THE CAVE IN:

Having the thought that can see if can get Bakura's Sage echo to allow Diabound to be physical for a short period of time to bash through that cave in (and shield people from any falling rocks as result of that punch) Since not sure if anyone else has ideas for getting them back out?

I can have Emmanuel do the broadcasting, he'd be hanging back a little anyway. He'll be getting a nice big knife from hearing the Sage speak, and I'm debating on his second Echo, but it might be combat related if we don't have a lot of fighters yet. Otherwise it will probably be a reoccurance memory.

Wanna have a sub-thread off that linked comment where Julien decides he and Emmanuel are both too close to something and drags him more towards the middle of the group? Wouldn't have to interfere with broadcasting much and both second echoes are possible from there.

Lyall needs somebody to protect him, as he's pretty much useless at this point, and I'm not giving him any combat echoes because I'm mean :) I think Misty offered Toushirou, and somebody else made a suggestion... who was that? Anybody else interested in keeping the biology teacher from being torn apart/beaten up/eaten?

Bah I know that he's been... a handful, but it would be really odd of Anthony to do nothing! He'll provide some defense - a bit more as well as more effective offense would surely be necessary.

Or, more realistically, a small group going to the mine entrance with first-aid kits and people who can drive the injured folks home. Doesn't have to be something big and dramatic, just to give them something to do rather than fretting at home.

Souji will be cracking jokes and saying they should tell ghost stories as they're trapped in the mine.

And comparing this to the Goonies, RPGs, etc and generally being a smarties and a nuicence. Probably he'll regain something to do with being a rasetsu, like his bloodlust/need to drink blood so y'all might have a hungry not-vampire on your hands too???

Hajime's getting back strength at a rough "able to tear a car door off its hinges and hurl it at someone" level, and he's already got super-awesome Undead reflexes, so he's up for rescuing people that need rescuing/fighting off Vermedi once I figure out where to throw him in there, so he's up for rescue duties.

Mort's already there and is going to be totally useless through the initial trap and escape, but he's a doctor so keeping him alive might be a good idea. He'll also be able to take care of injuries as they crop up, so...yay for that?

Julien will be getting one slow change (voice!) which will... leave him with difficulty speaking while he's there, and one fast change he won't notice for a while, a bigger better heart.

I want him heroic/useful but not in a violent sense, and the fast change will necessitate contact with something nasty. I don't want him particularly injured. He could just get brushed by a bat wing in passing, but does anyone want to save him?

I'm up for saving Julien! Regina is gaining more physical strength/reflexes from the trap, plus she has her handgun to shoot the bats.

Tadashi will be getting his guns back. And is at 0% skill in them. So if anyone wants to get grazed by a wild shot, I am so up for it. Otherwise, he will be quickly scrambling back behind the fighters.

Otherwise, he's more in for an assist position. WATCH OUT. OVER THERE. etc etc.

Shawn, at present, is agile but has no combat skills - he'll probably by mostly dodging and getting scuffed up - non-lethally, but nonetheless it'll take him down a peg in the cat-given-a-bath sort of attitude for a while. Do with this anything that you may like to!

Riku has some martial arts training, but no combat echoes either-- he does have a weaker healing spell, though, if Shawn wants to do something with that! c:

Actually, I already offered to let Alex (and probably Colette) stay with Aeron while they recover from injuries, then I thought maybe some more people might need it.

So if anyone needs a place for their characters to rest after the ambush, Aeron will offer his place up for that.

I actually have no idea what I'm giving Hajime back, but he's there! I just haven't gotten to tagging things yet today.

I may go for letting him get his sword back for fighting with the things, although that does leave me with one other that I don't know what to do with. But since he got his skills and his reflexes back before, that'd put him in a pretty good position to help out anyone who's having trouble covering their own ass.

haven't had a change to tag into the post today, i think i'm probably going to echo back some of banagher's spacial awareness as a next-step type thing in his newtype ability, so he'll be able to play psychic spotter for vermedi and make sure no one's getting left behind in the fray. unfortunately he still doesn't know how to/has no methods of really protecting himself, so if someone wants to make sure he's not ripped to shreds he's free game!

(he's also way way stronger than he looks if anyone needs help getting out, after the fact. no princess carries, he promises. ...unless that's your thing.)

Regina just got approved for a special echo! Which means her physical strength is heightened along with some reflexes, meaning that her punches and kicks are stronger now, plus she can dodge easily. Somewhat, as it's around 50%. Additionally, she brought along her knife and handgun.

So! Who wants to plot some stuff out with me?

Fred's already got some sword skills, which he has yet to put into use. He has nothing else useful at the moment. He's for-sure (assuming the mods say yea) getting a drop-a-rock-on-it spell. But for the second Echo, I can't decide between a weak version of his endgame sword (which will eventually be able to drop meteors on people) or his lowest healing spell.

Any thoughts?

I haven't had chance to tag into the log yet, but I'll be doing that tomorrow. the only useful(ish) echo luke will be getting back is his ability to cast illusions (at a diminished strength and without any idea how), but I'm totally up for messing around with those wrt this. otherwise, luke's not going to be a tremendous help — he's averagely agile for a human, ofc, and entirely lacking in combat skills (and willingness to fight beyond what's necessary for survival), so he will be getting injured to a non-lethal degree.

so maybe not hand-holding per se, but i think this one is going to try and haul the nonfighters up and try to herd them towards the least dangerous of the tunnels, assuming there are any. (if not we'll wing it and just be like OKAY STAYING HERE ISN'T A GOOD OPTION AND YOU CAN'T SIT HERE FLAILING FOREVER LET'S GO)

HMM. Ok. So I think at some point, Shiro is going to trip like a big loser and the bats are going to rip up his bike jacket and maul him pretty badly. Like, screaming bloody murder then should be dead badly. Which will trigger his high speed regen echo!! So does anyone want to try and pull some bats off of him just in time to see his wounds heal (in that nasty white bubbly goo way that hollows heal)

Amusingly, for someone who isn't actually combat trained, Tamara already has a few useful abilities for combat. She'll be able to drain the bats and Vermedi of their life energy since neither are human (though a bit less with the Vermedi since they are part human). While she's not at the level of being able to kill with that ability, it will make them tired and slow them down. Definitely something that will be helpful.

She's also got that freaky can tie up shit with her hair ability as well. That can help a lot to disable something, also to catch someone if ground collapses below them.

Problem is, she won't have any actual weapons. Pretty much just a flashlight and I'm thinking a swiss army knife (because they can be generally useful for the geeky sort). She'll be a great help to someone who can kill them after she weakens them. I would like her to be able to use an ability to directly save someone's life, mostly because she thinks so badly of her abilities and seeing them help someone would do her a lot of good.

However, if Haley and I are still going with our plan of Sasame getting hurt to protect her, she'll become useless at that point because the echo she'll get from it would definitely be too distracting. The two of them would likely need some help then because she'll be useless whether she got injured or not. I haven't decided on injuries for her, she's likely not getting off scot free, but won't be badly injured.

Winter, unfortunately, is among the least useful people in the cave - one non-combat Echo, and a second non-combat Echo coming while she's there (though it starts the track to give her combat capacity... eventually). She and her new plushie may need saving, as she has zero (or less) capability to take care of herself.

Haruka's going to be hurt and it is going to be ~dramatic~! Shallow-ish wounds, but lots of blood. Nothing life-threatening, but definitely something that'll require the attention of healers so please throw your healers at me. I was thinking three separate attacks to her left hand, left shoulder, and some kind of slash across her chest because somebody doesn't have her preincarnation's luck.

also I'd prefer it if they they were healed without scars so that Haruka can stare at them later and be all 'whaaaaaaat' and feel vaguely unnerved while doing so.

she also has a gun and she'll be shooting things before she gets hurt so if you want one of your characters to be rescued that is also a possibility!

I've just put in a request for Fred to get his low-level healing magic back, so I should be able to help with this.

Possibly I should have helping Haruka use up the last of his MP, on account of he doesn't have a whole lot and his only combat stuff right now is a rock-spell.
