Evening, all you fine folks at this brand spanking new game. I'm Liv, and I've brought you not your first, nay, but your second sparkly zombie vampire werewolf quasi-historical samurai. His name is Toshizou Hijikata, although his reincarnation is named Toshirou Katase.

Please don't call him Toshi, because he will punch you in the teeth.

He's a 25 year old high school dropout who runs an inter-city shipping company. He'll deliver anything from furniture to groceries to medical supplies to live animals to boxes of things you're trying to get to your dorm room without your parents seeing.

You know what things.

He's surly, he chain smokes, and he swears in ways that would make a sailor blush. Deep down he's a good guy, though, and if you do right by him he'll have your back when push comes to shove.

In spite of dropping out in the 10th grade, he actually largely regrets not being able to finish his education and whenever he's got some time off he can usually be found in the back of the local library.

If anyone fancies some shogi or chess, bring a case of beer and he's on board. :')

Werewolf lore in his 'verse means he's immortal, technically undead (but it's so RUDE to say it like that!), silver is indeed a bad thing to him, and he can only use his most of supernatural abilities (shapechanging, supernatural strength/speed) while at night. The super-nose and hearing are forever though :D

So yes, fearing silver will be a thing!

Lyall also encourages the GED-ness :B Yes indeed.

But yes! He had JUST started teaching ten years ago. Maybe they just Toushirou was in one of his first or second years' classes?

I AM AN IDIOT no I knew that my brain just crossed wires. Not that Gail wouldn't be a very pretty name for the professor.

And that works for me! Toshi would've been very bright if a bit troubled at that age due to his home situation. Maybe he gave Lyall a really hard time before he dropped out. If you're interested in this sort of CR I'm totally up for hashing it all out. :D

I bet he feels guilt over the star-slash-troubled student dropping out. Like he'd failed somehow, even if it was totally not his fault X3

Very cool ^^ and yes, the supernatural creatures bit is bothering Lyall :| especially as I am giving him full moon wolf before he gets normal wolf OR his full healing ability :D

He will be an angry, miserable fellow, yes indeedy.

Also, I think they are from similar time periods? Lyall's canon takes place in the 1870s.

Similar yes! Hakuouki takes place between 1864-1869, and there's a prequel game too.

Eh, well, Lyall is 300 years old, he was around for that, too :D I think he'll at least have heard of the Shinsengumi and Japan's little war. I know some of it the West got a little involved in, sorta-kinda?

I dunno, all I know about the time period I learned from Rurouni Kenshin >.>

Yes actually one of Hijikata's bffs was this dork who was in love with all things western. Taught Hijikata what a handshake was. Influence from the West was definitely leaking over. Other people in my cast have the facts straighter in their head. xD I tend to play a little fast and loose with the history, which gets faster and looser the longer it's been since I last canon reviewed....

Eh, considering the series is a dating sim with samurai vampires, I think it's safe to say you're allowed to play a little loose with history :D

Actually the people who worked on the storyline were huge history buffs so they actually got a lot right! ...but yeah they also definitely took a lot of liberties with things too. Seriously though, I went into this game thinking 'oh hey vampire samurai boyfriends.'

...and what I got was history, feelings, and a fandom where I have to google the bakumatsu/Meiji Restoration before 80% of my tags.

It hurts but it hurts so good.
