Does anyone remember this plot (specifically the Tuning Towers part)? If you don't that's okay, but I do want to massively apologize for dropping the ball. My PC went out of commission a day after that and December turned out to be way more intensive at work than I thought. Still having PC issues, but I wanted to get everything sorted out and after talking to the mods there's a few things I think should be discussed by the game at large before I do anything else with this plot.

I wanted to do this plot as a way to help characters get involved with game plot regardless of whether they were in with a specific group or not since I knew people were having trouble finding things for their characters to do or reasons for them to care. After talking with the mods though I think it's been a little unclear what the game plot for Season One is.

Season One is for characters to gain echoes in preparation for Season Two and to become aware of and (somewhat) acclimated to the general game situation. What this means is that by playing even simple slice of life your character is already involved in game plot. Any information gathering or actions against NPCs are fun extras. Because of the nature of Season One this means that there is a finite amount of information that can be gathered in addition to a limited extent of actions taken; this is because Season Two will be more heavily focused on those things.

Which brings me back to the Towers plot: all information regarding Thunder Corp for this season has already been found. Characters won't be able to find out what Thunder Corp is doing at the Towers; at least for this season. Normally I'd want to continue the plot since that was only half of it, but Season Two won't start until Thunder Corp reaches their goal in the Towers basement.

Any action against the Towers operation will delay Season Two.

I don't mind running the plot as a failure with Numbers being thwarted, but this would cause more police crackdown and suspected characters being taken in. So obviously I don't think that's my call to make since this would effect a large amount of characters. Other options are having the plot never come to fruition (plans were made, but they never happened for whatever reason, no consequences, everyone goes about their day) or running the plot as a success (which I don't find very advisable since it would delay Season Two).

Finally I did talk to the mods a bit on what avenues for information and general involvement above general slice of life there are left in Season One. The Blood Keys and Pride are the few sources of information/action left for Season One; Season One is also slated to end some time this month. I know there are a few plots going on with them already, but if anyone wants to do anything more this would probably be a good time to get everything sorted out. If you want to get your character involved, but aren't sure how I think this is a good time to ask as well and we can all help eachother out a bit.

So! Thanks to Echoes and some help from Chris, Cain here is now able to create robot monsters out of inorganic objects. On New Year's Eve (ICly, anyway, OOCly it'll be backdated by a few days) he's going to do this live on the network using a stealth keylogger. While also drinking, looking embarrassing and doing the sort of things one does on New Year's.

The result will be an inch-tall USB donglebot. Cain's main interest will be seeing if any network cops are interested in getting the little guy into the building so it can sneak its way to Sherman or Edwards' computer and plant itself there. Because Cain's canon is weird, the USBroid will sound and act like Sean Connery's James Bond.

The goal is to intercept any sensitive communication that might be going out from them. Cain really isn't certain if this will work or if they'll find anything useful, he just thinks it's worth trying.

Thoughts? Concerns? Passing remarks? Volunteers to be part of this unbelievably stupid buddy cop movie waiting to happen?

Provided the Echo gets approved (and I don't see why it wouldn't be), John here is going to gain a second heart!

It won't be pleasant, because it means things in his chest area will need to re-arrange themselves to make room for it, and then it'll have to actually grow, and basically he'll be in a great amount of pain for... I dunno, twelve hours? Twelve hours sound good. He's going to make a network post asking for assistance before the pain gets really bad, because he'll assume he ought to get to the clinic.

So, I'm wondering if anyone wants in on this and would like to help him out? c: And, of course, if any of you clinic people see this feel free to respond and maybe we could play something out.

Hey guys!

This is a post to hopefully coordinate regarding a possible log for the folks plotting care package prep and delivery. Most likely if anybody has responded to Pierce's posts regarding this, you've gotten a PM about it, but new people are welcome too.

What I'd like to know is whether you guys want a log. That log would cover the week of Christmas, to allow for playing out any aspect of the process. Any pertinent details regarding your character that can go into that, I'd love to know them. Things you'd like to see or feel would work best? I'd also like to know that.

In general, this is for plotting purposes. I plan to post a log on the 26th or 27th (if that works for people involved) and backdate it.

this ended up really long, so under a cut it goes! )

Edited to add: of course this is the holidays and everyone's crazy busy and such, so in general I'd think slow and such is to be expected, so no pressure on anyone here <3

and another edit for clarification because I didn't think of this: I threw this up because we wanted to include as many people as possible, but for IC purposes it'd have to be someone either Alex or Nick (or one of the others going) would want to ask or suggest come along. If you'd be really interested OOCly, though, please let us know!

The original intent of this was a small recon team, so I'm not sure how much actual alien interaction will happen. ...of course it's started taking on a life of its own, so who knows what will end up happening, but still.

Outcome! )

Hey guys! Just doing some quick plot checking;

I know it was discussed a bit ICly and OOCly with ICly writing some anon essays/blog posts/etc on recent events to get more attention; I went ahead and drafted a few that I'm ready to post with the idea that Elian's published stuff in the past under a pseudenoym and will be using the same here BUT 1) I know there are other players who want(ed) to get involved and 2) Elian is hopeless at doing computer anon what is technology so I definitely need more of 1.

Long story short, who wants their character involved in this? I figure in addition to needing people able to help with the anon thing, there's the whole getting-it-out-there-thing. (Also glancing over at Louise & Aave to make sure you guys are OOCly okay with the first essay being semicentered on your charas because I am a paranoid one 8u)

Okay so since a couple of people expressed interest in seeing how the care package planning would play out, and I wanted to put up a post here for planning purposes.

Since there's a limited span of time between now and Christmas (which seems like the goal to have these things ready by), I have a suggestion. Pierce's father works for a large advertising firm. While they don't have the best relationship, Papa Asher would consider it to be a good PR opportunity for client companies. As a result, local businesses could either volunteer supplies, resources, or space for people working on the care packages.

If you guys have other ideas for facilitating that step in things, please feel free to suggest it so we can all decide. Otherwise, we can move on to implementation.

Provided we get the "how we get the things" part squared, I can have Pierce let the others know about that arrangement (or we can ICly execute whatever alternative plan), after which IC arrangements could be made for shopping/assembling/delivering.

So I'd like to know if you guys are interested in logging the various steps of Operation Care Package. We could have a log with sub-threads for different parts, including ones for people affected by the quake getting their goodies. Would anybody like to do this?

Questions, comments, concerns? Lay them all on me.

Also anyone who wants to retroactively say their character's involved in this, feel free to chime in too.

idk hello everyone, this is Jan, your mun for Team Dad, Ryan Brown. so the Shingeki party IS HAPPENING!! If you or someone you know heard this post and went 'hm yes, this naked giant thing sounds like it could be about me' then they are officially invited to Ryan and Bertholdt's apartment for a night of Echo retelling! that means you too, Walter Pooling their knowledge and whatnot. Now Ryan's incorrect knowledge can be your knowledge, etc!

Buuuut seeing I don't wanna overload anyone's time with a week-long log for a single night, I figured we could plot around here for the general things that will definitely be happening that night. This way you can request your echoes accordingly.

cut for talk of naked, dickless giants. oh and spoilers. )

So in this post, Kotetsu had the idea of capturing a sniffer dog to see if they could discover how/why they're able to sense numbereds

The prevailing idea at the moment seems to be Octavia ([personal profile] drama8om8) mind-controlling one of the handlers to drop their dog off somewhere.

SO. Things we would conceivably need for this plan:

-A "safe" drop-off location somewhere out of the way

-Someone to receive said dog and who could restrain it/take it to somewhere where science-y things can be done

-Backup in case things go terribly wrong

-People to do SCIENCE

-Distractions so people don't get suspicious about where the dog handler is randomly going by themselves and to cover their trail as they go to the drop-off point

ALSO apparently Mordin is in possession of some hellhound-blood from the Halloween party? So maybe that'd be useful somewhere in the scienceing.

I'm thinking all this would go down sometime after the drug bust plot? Once we come up with a gameplan, we can ask the mods how it would go and take it from there in putting up logs/posts ic!

EDIT: So here's what we've got so far!

-Ray and Dians are on distraction

-Octavia is mind-controlling a handler, which she needs a picture or video or something of (I'm thinking Kotetsu can most easily provide this unless another network cop wants to!)

-Shiro is receiving the dog (at some location still to be decided)

-Suzaku is providing a basement for SCIENCEing

-The Luteces are our scientists! Totally still open to more scientists tho

Okay so the original plan was that the exploration team would actually make it into the Tuning Towers basements but would still have to send Danny underground to find the source of the buzzing.

It wasn't decided if they would find anything down in the basements besides 'not the source of the buzzing' and the thread for it in the event post hasn't actually happened yet. I'm bringing this up because [profile] thewinningside wanted to have Zelos lead a mission down into the basements to see what they could find, which doesn't make sense if they've already been there and done that.

So the question I have for everyone involved in this. Would you rather:

A) Retcon the exploration event so that they do not actually enter the basements? This can be explained by them opting not to go in due to the possibility of danger they are unprepared for. Danny would still be sent underground to discover the giant pink rock, but from the sewers instead of from the basements.

or B) Continue with the original plan and focus our attention on the thread in question so we can figure out what they find down there?

Pros of A, we get to have a different person running another plot that different people can be involved in. Cons of A, we have to retcon something people may have already made assumptions about.

Pros of B, no retconning, and anybody who had plans does not need to change them. Cons of B, it's already two weeks past that mission so there would be backlogging of plot stuff involved.

I do not have feelings on this either way so I am leaving it up to popular vote.

I'm just prefacing this with: Zelos is an asshole.

Moving on! On Sunday, Dec 1st Zelos is going to be announcing a few things at a party being held for Starlit Stage members, sponsors and the media. Which I think rules out most PCs being there, but I don't know if you really want your character to be there hit me up. His announcement is going to be as follows:

1) Starlit Stage and Starling-Chandler School are throwing a charity benefit to help those displaced by the recent bombing of the Dead District. It'll be in the form of a public show where ticket prices will be whatever audience members care to share for those in need. The show itself is going to run Dec 14th-26th.
2) The sponsor for this benefit is Thundercorp who will kindly be lending the PR offices in their HQ
3) This benefit will be Zelos's last show meaning it is going to be a Big Deal around town. He is stepping down from the stage to take over his father's massive global hotel business.
4) As the new head of said business he is looking forward to a close working relationship with Thundercorp from now on and he believes they can make a difference in Locke City so he's asking the public to lend Thundercorp their support.

: All of this will hit the internet the night of December 1st and be covered by major news outlets over the course of December 2nd. Zelos himself is probably not going to throw up a post on the network about it unless people sound like they want his head on a stick or something.

This leads me to like three different plots here that it would be awesome for people to get in on and I'd love to hear suggestions/improvements/volunteers/idk stuff.

Pigeons have been falling ill with Carneades, the bird uplift virus, since October. That is still happening, though there are fewer dead and obviously ailing ones around than at first. It'll keep happening through the winter, at the least. Some of the birds that survive this illness are changing.

Some will have corvid-level intelligence starting around the new year, though this generation won't get smarter than that, and many will be slower to get there if they reach that level at all. Corvids are devastatingly bright animals, not unreasonably compared to dolphins. None of the affected pigeons are there yet, but despite popular belief, pigeons are already pretty smart. They're very social, adaptive animals with ancestors domesticated ten thousand years ago.

In the early morning of Tuesday, the 19 of November, there was a shooting in the harbor area of Locke City after police had been tipped off by a mole about a major shipment of cocaine coming in at that time and location.

In short, two policemen (an NPC and Angela Roth [personal profile] von_uberwolf) and five criminals were killed or died of their wounds over the course of the next week, though a few other criminals, among them Blaine Frost [personal profile] siesinddasessen could escape. A few arrests were later made in connection with the shooting, though not everyone could be identified.

Below is a rundown of the information that could be found on the normal, local, off-network news, TV, radio and newspapers alike, over the course of the two weeks after the shooting. An IC post from the evening news with the first showcasing of a recognizable picture of Angela will be posted tonight.

WHAT WE ARE DOING:
Forming an expedition to explore the sewers beneath Tuning Towers and the tower basements, in the hopes of locating the source of the buzzing and stopping it.

Since this post Ravi's spent some time mapping out routes through the sewers and subways around Tuning Towers and trying to put together a plan. He is a very organized person so there would be a second IC post to announce the actual expedition meet-up and discuss the plan, so you need not have commented to the first post to be involved. I'd prefer to handwave that, but I'll make a note of it when I put up the event.

Here are my general ideas for how things are going to go, but I would definitely like to get some discussion going to solidify plans and roles. These ideas are all very flexible so if you have something that works better please do not hesitate to add it to the discussion!

Details under the cut )

So, the outcome of the stated mission will be failure.

However! Our characters will be able to discover new information, and if you were looking for a way for your character to attract police attention/get taken into custody, something could always go terribly wrong while running interference!

Questions? Anything to add? Discuss which team your character would be on? The floor is open!

UPDATES:

- Word of mod: "all participants in this venture will receive one (1) plot Echo."
- The interference team WILL attract police attention. You can volunteer OOCly to have your character arrested (or avoid it if you prefer)! - As per Julien's suggestion, they will be encouraged to carry small mirrors or buttons with most of their network number pre-written on them, to allow for them to easily add the last number and provide a visual for the network/mission control.
- As per Luci's suggestion, they will be splitting up and entering the tunnels at different points, with several distractions splitting up the police threat, to minimize the risk of getting caught.
- Mission control will be stationed at Barnaby's apartment. Subject to change if the team gets larger than 10 people.

Here is a spreadsheet of the teams. Feel free to add yourself in! You can also sign up for a specific exploration squad if you like.

Halloween. What could possibly go wrong on a night like that? The log will go up tomorrow, but Rachel here is hosting a Halloween party for the Network (with the invite put out here) that, with the city as it is, has been a lot of work to prepare. She already had the decorations, she's gotten the necessary pumpkins through Roxy, but it's been a pain to get almost everything else considering the state of most businesses.

Buuuuut the hard work is paying off, with a party that's bound to be morbid fun for everyone! Even the kids. The booze is off-limits to the kids.

There may even be unexpected interference by the police hellhounds, potentially brought on by the very unusual guests that might be hard to pass off as normal. So maybe an interesting break in the morbid fun there.

So! Any characters interested who might show up unannounced? Any plans for your characters to get up to at the party? Anyone who's getting dragged along against their will? Or maybe just the scattered trick-or-treater? Sound off and discuss amongst yourselves!

Carneades!

So, the plague scare! That thing is not done yet. It's been spread around. It's still being spread around! Carneades is carefully engineered and highly virulent and rather alarming to track. But it doesn't hurt humans. It's designed to hit birds. This version mostly hits rock pigeons and their domesticated kin, the breeds people usually eat, race, and keep as pets. Other birds might fall ill here and there but won't be changed and mostly won't even die of it.

There are sick birds about already. Birds tend to try their hardest to hide illness, and anyway they don't cough or sneeze as obviously as humans. If sickness bad enough to show, it's very serious. Look for fluffed up, apathetic pigeons with lolling heads. They can be approached, even touched, with only minimal attempts to escape. They sneeze a lot and there's a brownish crusty discharge on their beaks. Also fever.

A lot of those are going to get eaten, hit by cars or trampled, and others will die more directly of it. There's going to be an unusual number of dead birds about, that's for sure. A few of the obviously sick might make it. People who take pity on them and try to put them in safer spots, or especially who keep them warm and get them to drink things, can save some others. That will be remembered, later.

Survivors don't seem to act abnormally for now. But just because a bird is sick doesn't mean it shows it - and it's mostly those ones that seem okay now that survive and are getting smarter.

So my job is easing back down to 25 hours after a 45 hour first week, so I'll be around a lot more! Especially since I have plans to app another character this month. :D

That being said: I want Bertholdt to do things wow!!! He's too quiet and timid, so I'm not sure how to get him out and about without it being OOC, so I want people to try and get him out of the house, maybe? Especially with it becoming colder, he'll be steaming constantly when the temperature reaches 32F and below!

I've thought it over, and I'm thinking that mayyyybe I should move the snake statue teardown log to later in the week, both IC and OOC. I figure that ICly, characters are going to be exhausted (and probably shell-shocked) from the werewolf thing, and that we'll also want to know how it resolves first, and OOC, two potentially big logs in one weekend is a lot to handle.

Thoughts?

IF y'all wanna move it, just assume Chris sent everyone who expressed interest private messages with "MOVING THE DATE UP" or some such, I don't feel the need to clutter up the IC comm with stuff like that.
